clare Walker consultancybrings you the Certain Curtain Theatre Company with their explosive drama; mockingbird High. a UniqUe event mixing training with explosive drama! an in-depth exploration of domestic abuse and how it affects the educational, social, emotional, psychological, physical and cognitive development of our children. a must for anyone working with children and families.The morning session will begin with Clare Walker giving an introduction to the highly acclaimed Freedom programme, an educational model explaining the dynamics of domestic abuse. Looking at the ‘Dominator’ and the tactics of abuse, with a particular focus on how those tactics effect every element of our children and their development - from conception onwards. This will be followed by speakers from Safeguarding practices, sharing their knowledge, including their experience of the Freedom programme model.The afternoon session will start with a performance of mockingbird High, from the award winning Certain Curtain Theatre Company. mockingbird High School…. is an empty and dark place. However, in a locked-classroom deep in the basement, a light still burns. Two pupils are conducting an unusual experiment - the trial of their mother for neglect and abuse. If guilty, there’s only one sentence – death….This explosive drama examines the ‘cycle of abuse,’ sexual bullying, patterns of abusive behaviour and the long-term impact on children. There will be an after show discussion, opportunities for networking, a child survivors story, followed by Q&a to round off the day.
