People of all ages and all skin types are susceptible to skin cancer, no matter how tolerant they may think their skin is to the sun, or how dark their skin tone is. The topic of skin wellness will be covered in a 13-minute videotape Leipziger Bach Collegium with Ludwig Guttier, Saturday, Jan- uary 13, 1990, at 8:00 p.m. Highlighting an evening of Baroque ensemble music by the seven-member Leipziger Bach Col- legium is the ensemble's conductor and trumpet soloist, Ludwig Gut- tier. These are the comments typi- cal of the critics: "Guttler's out- standing musical personality ex- presses itself through his perfect and poetic trumpet playing,'' and ''I have heard fine Baroque trum- peters ... but Ludwig Guttler, the contemporary phenomenon from Leipzig, puts all of them, to date, in the shade! '' An Die Musik -- The Composer's Composer, Saturday, April 7, 1990, at 8:00 p.m. ''To Music'' translates their name, and "to composers" toasts An Die Musik. Musical themes of past composers have inspired Dave Brubeck and Andre Previn to write new works for An Die Musik, and containing information about sun exposure, skin cancer, and preven- tion. The film reviewed the three types of skin cancer and their char- acteristics, and demonstrates self- examination using a body map. A skin wellness brochure with infor- mation on how to maintain and protect the skin will be available to each participant. @The Activities Office We are again offering scuba-diving lessons at the Fennilab Pool. Now is

your chance to try this adventurous, relaxing, and fun sport. Lessons will be held on five consecutive Thursdays starting July 27. The classroom session begins at 6:45 p.m. and ends at 8: 15 p.m. at the Users Center. Pool sessions begin at 8:30 p.m., ending at 10:00 p.m. Each student will be required to provide his/her own mask, fins (open-heeled preferred), and snorkel. Minimum age liint is 12 years of age. Cost is $100.00. After completion of this course, you are prepared to take the ''open water" training dives for PADI certification. These dives are at an additional cost and will be arranged after completion of this course.

@Recent Retirements: Betty Kastner (Res. Div.!Com-

puting), l.D. #538, retired from Ferniilab on July 7, 1989, after 20 years and 6 days of Lab em-ployment. An "original" member of the Computing Department, Betty worked on ''whatever equip-ment there was: RADS Station link to Argonne, UNIV AC terminal to NYU and unit records equip-ment, then a Digital PDP-10, IBM 360/40 and CDC 6600, and finally, IBM 4381, VAXes, ACP's, and the Amdahl.''

Betty plans to spend her free time on family, music, bird watch-ing, graphoanalysis, hatha yoga, and toy making (first project: a Teddy bear for her grandchild).

et al. Elimbeth Austin, daughter

of Sharon Austin (Physics Sec-tion) and David Austin (Tech. Suppt.!Admin.), has been awarded a full-tuition scholarship to Pur-due University by the Furnas Foundation, which recognizes outstanding students living within a 12-mile radius of Batavia.

Scholarship awards are based on academic record and participa-tion in extra-curricular, com-munity, or organizational ac-tivities. Lisa is a graduating sen-ior at Batavia High School, and has been captain of the varsity cheerleading squad for the past two years. She participates in both football and basketball cheerleading. She is an honor student and member of the Na-tional Honor Society. She also coaches gymnastics and teaches dance through the Batavia Park District. She will be attending Purdue University in the fall.

The Furnas Foundation was founded by William Carlyle Fur-nas, who graduated from Purdue University in 1908 and contrib-uted generously to scholarship programs during his lifetime. The Foundation awards a full-tuition scholarship to Purdue each year in his name.
