• FGM: Female Genital Mutilation is a destructive way operation of

removing part or all of a girl’s genitalia. The tissue around the vaginal

opening is scraped away or the vagina itself is cut. In the mostextreme cases, the vaginal opening is stitched shut

Procedures

• &litoridectomy: partial or total removal of the clitoris 'a

small, sensitive and erectile part of the female genitals- and,

in very rare cases, only the prepuce 'the fold of s$insurrounding the clitoris-.

• '(cisio: partial or total removal of the clitoris and the laia

minora 'the laia are the lips that surround the vagina-.

•I$i)ulatio: narrowing of the vaginal opening through thecreation of a covering seal. The seal is formed y cutting

and repositioning the inner, or outer, laia, with or without

removal of the clitoris.
