Dual Laser Fiber Launch System

I have build this laserfiber launch systemusing two Actoprobelasers (405 and532nm-20mW) and offthe shelf componentsfrom ThorLabs. TheSystem is compact,portable and easy toalign and use.

The coupling efficiencyto SM fiber of thissystem is about 10%.I am using two mirrorsfor parallel alignment(decenter) and a fiberport PAF-X-18-A (tolaunch fiber) tocontrol X-Y-Z offsetand tilt. No beamexpander is beingused to overfill theback aperture ofthe port.

Alignment and Parts

I first align the lasers by using upstream downstream mirrors along the alignment arm (upstream and down stream IRIS). Then I replace the alignment arm with port and adjust the X-Y-Z and tip on the fiber port.I also Installed two ND filter wheels to adjust the intensity.

Stability and Cost

The system is builtwithin the cage systemso it has a goodstiffness, the systemdoes not get easilymisaligned whenmoved from place toplace.Right now it is blue andgreen but it is easy toadd another channel tomake it RGB.I am using off the shelfcomponents so the costof this system is around$1800 including thelasers.
