FIC Family Camp 2016
BACK to The
Basics
Shanty Creek Resort.
Bellaire, Michigan.
May 27-30, 2016
Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuhu dear respected brothers and sisters,
We welcome you back to this year’s Family Camp, Alhamdulillah this will be our 12th camp we will enjoy together! This year we are back at Shanty Creek, and by now we have grown comfortable with the facilities and the wonderful staff, and you cannot beat the view of course. We have included many great additions to this year’s program as we are finding new ways to make camp loveable.
Like any proper camp however, we do have some simple rules we hope you will follow as they help to ensure that we can all enjoy the weekend. Please be patient with the staff and campers as we try to accommodate for everyone, and remember that we are also here as staff and volunteers to enjoy the weekend with our families and friends. We want what is best for everyone.
As usual, we plan on starting all sessions on time and ending on time so that we will have good enough time for the recreational activities to run smoothly. Also, because of the number of brothers and sisters attending the camp (expecting over 700!), you can see how we as organizers need help in keeping the facilities clean and neat. Please watch your children and do help out in cleaning up after meals and events.
The theme for this year’s camp is “Back to the Basics” and we have an excellent group of speakers and scholars to help us immerse ourselves in the topics. This year is especially important as we may not come together again for a few years as Ramadan will take over the memorial weekend. That also gives us a chance to take what we learned in this camp into Ramadan Insha’Allah with open hearts and minds. So please make the intention of having an epic Family Camp, and we hope you enjoy it as usual! Wa’ Assalamuwalaykum.
