The combination of disparate and point solutions has hindered how most organizations can leverage data across the enterprise. Rapidly accumulating volumes of data further adds to the challenge of operationalizing data-driven processes and decisions. Despite the need for scalable, easy-to-use solutions to rapidly and flexibly leverage data to make decisions, few commercial solutions offer the out-of-the-box ability for high-volume, high-performance analytics without the need for specialized hardware. FICO® Decision Management Platform Streaming, built to support high-volume, low latency analytics, allows organizations to rapidly extract value from data, making it decision-ready for a variety of downstream applications. This makes it possible for organizations to respond to signals in the data in real time.

Rapidly turn data into decisions

As part of the holistic FICO® Decision Management Suite, FICO Decision Management Platform Streaming is a high-performance distributed processing platform that serves both batch and stream sources of data. A user-friendly interface includes visually compose-able blocks that allow users to ingest, correlate and analyze a variety of data.

Low latency processing, combined with integration with other applications, significantly reduces the time to build real-time streaming decision solutions. Decision Management Platform Streaming expands how you can scale a variety of decisions in your business.

Drag-and-drop user interface

A web-based user interface provides a palette of data sources, integration templates and processing steps that users can choose from. Processing steps replace the custom-coded steps typically found in open source or legacy ETL technologies. Users can choose from a variety of ingestion, transformation, augmentation, analytic or outbound processing steps. The drag-and-drop user interface allows these steps to be assembled in minutes on a canvas to create a flow that represents a use case. Each step in the flow is configurable through the user interface. Use-case templates reduce the need for code-based implementations to deliver a new use case.

Always-on or scheduled processing

Always-on processing frees organizations from the inefficiencies of scheduling and is an essential first step toward real-time decision-readiness. However, there are times when processing only needs to be run at a few specified times. In such cases, scheduled processing is a better choice. Allowing for both types of processing in a single platform gives organizations the flexibility to meet the varied demands for data processing.

Visual composition allows users to simply assemble a solution by connecting blocks to each other, without the need to spend time tracing lines and connections through canvas clutter. Each block exposes a comprehensive set of configuration and tuning parameters at the click of a mouse.

Streaming Execution of Models and Rules

Decision Management Platform Streaming provides out-of-the-box support to operationalize a variety of decision assets. Users can rapidly deploy PMML, Python or Java based analytics. Business rules that support complex operational decisions can also be executed in the stream. Unlike in-database or in-appliance type analytic deployments, it allows analytics to move closer to the data so value is extracted and decisions are made as the streams of data are processed. This significantly reduces operational and performance complexity that needs to be managed by data scientists and IT/Dev-Ops users and opens up possibilities for organizations to use analytics in cases where rapid real-time decisions must be made.

In-Stream Contextual Profiles

Many analytic approaches rely on gathering the data and re-contextualizing it to extract patterns in an offline mode. Use cases such as customer service, risk, fraud and marketing require analytics to incorporate both historical and in-the-moment behaviors for an informed decision. In cases such as marketing or fraud, these analytics must often execute in real-time. Many organizations already have implementations for a single use case, however these implementations are not extensible beyond that use case. In-stream contextual profiles provide organizations with the analytic toolbox to rapidly implement contextually responsive analytics across a variety of business decisions, while still managing complexity and performance.

Visually Monitored Performance

As the organization starts to leverage more and more data, it becomes increasingly challenging to keep track of every disparate cluster, system and process. Built-in visual performance monitoring within Decision Management Platform Streaming allows the user to enable a variety of metrics to determine if processing is occurring as expected or if bottlenecks may be occurring. Additionally, it provides both visual and numeric cues for suggested performance improvements.

Visual monitoring and tuning allows users to observe throughput and latency of the solution. A rich set of metrics and color-based cues alert the user to performance bottlenecks.

Transactional Guarantees

Errors may occur during the processing of data. A popular legacy approach to correcting these errors has been to simply replay the entire data set. However, this replay can create un-intended consequences. In an e-commerce transaction, it could result in a consumer being charged twice or not at all. Transactional guarantees can be built into any process by simply dropping the requisite job steps into the canvas. These guarantees act as a safety feature and allow for the replay of just the failed data, resulting in a savings of time and machine resource from having to process the entire window. No more multi-year projects to build out transactional guarantees.

Complex Event Detection

Decision Management Platform Streaming allows users to define, detect and respond to events in the stream of data without the burden of traditional complex event detection approaches. It provides users with the ability to query the stream without having to know a declarative language such as SQL. Sophisticated users have the option to use an SQL-type construct to specify their event logic.

Performance – High Availability

High performance doesn’t mean there is a need for a lot of, or specialized, hardware. The FICO® Decision Management Platform allows you to squeeze out performance from commodity hardware. To that end, each job step is optimized to reduce its individual latency, thus minimizing total latency.

Additional nodes can be added dynamically to provide increased performance.

Not all use cases are the same and providing flexibility to tune performance for a variety of use cases on a single platform is important. Systems need to be resilient to failures, while still performing at a high level. This platform is constructed so each critical component of the platform supports redundancy with the capability to keep the jobs processing when nodes fail. The combination enables a highly available and performing system.

Integration with Downstream Applications

Most data processing today requires integration with other systems and applications, for which there is a wide variety of protocols and formats available. Decision Management Platform Streaming provides out-of-the-box connectivity for all types of integration, whether it is enabling connectivity with services, queues or databases and whether the data comes in as a CSV, JSON or XML file.

Software Development Kit

Decision Management Platform Streaming is highly extensible. Customers can write their own custom job steps using the Job Step API. And application APIs enable the integrator to allow other applications to consume and respond to data processing that occurs within the platform.

FICO Decision Management Platform Streaming is a highly distributed stream processing platform that unites the processing of batch and stream sources to extend the power of the FICO Decision Management Suite. Easily composable and configurable blocks enable everything from data ingestion to analytic or rule execution. Processing on the platform is optimized to serve real-time use cases, and by unifying stream processing and integration it allows organizations to rapidly serve their processing and decisioning needs across the enterprise.
