FIELD CHANGES FOR THE 2017 FFIEC CENSUS FILE INTRODUCTION: The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) policy regarding the implementation of the American Community Survey (ACS) specifies that the FFIEC will refresh the ACS dataset utilized for the annual FFIEC Census File on a 5 year cycle. Therefore, while the FFIEC Census files for 2012 through 2016 used the 2010 datasets, the 2017 FFIEC Census File (and forward) use the 2011-2015 ACS 5 year estimates as a basis for the file. The purpose of this document is to provide a list of the field changes for the 2017 FFIEC Census file that resulted from the switch to the 2015 ACS 5 year estimates. Please note the following when using this document: All of the fields on the FFIEC Census file that were previously from the 2010 Census Summary File 1 (SF1) or the 2010 ACS are now from the 2015 ACS. Only fields that experienced a change in description and/or source table/field number will be listed below. In addition, any fields that were in the 2010 ACS/SF1 but are no longer available in the 2015 ACS (or vice versa) will be listed. Please see these examples for clarification: o The field “Total Families” was from table B19101_1 in the 2010 ACS. It is still “Total Families” from table B19101_1 in 2015 ACS. Therefore it does not appear on the list. o The field “Total Persons” was from table P0010001 in the 2010 SF1. It is now “Total Persons” from the table B01001_1 in the 2015 ACS. Therefore it does appear on the list. o The field “Total population Non-Hispanic White and Black” was from table P0090013 in the 2010 SF1. It is not available in the 2015 ACS although the index will be maintained for compatibility purposes. Therefore it does appear on the list. o The field “Total population-household type” was from table B09016_1 in the 2010 ACS. It is now “Total population-household type” from the table B09019_1 in the 2015 ACS because the original ACS table B09016_1 is no longer available. Therefore it does appear on the list. o The field “Owner occupied housing unit moved in 2005 or later” was from table B25038_3 in the 2010 ACS. It is still from table B25038_3 in the 2015 ACS, but the field description will change to “Owner occupied housing unit moved in 2015 or later”. Therefore it does appear on the list. FIELD CHANGES FOR THE 2017 FFIEC CENSUS FILE

INTRODUCTION: The Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council (FFIEC) policy regarding the implementation of the American Community Survey (ACS) specifies that the FFIEC will refresh the ACS dataset utilized for the annual FFIEC Census File on a 5 year cycle. Please note the following when using this document:

• All of the fields on the FFIEC Census file that were previously from the 2010 Census Summary File 1 (SF1) or the 2010 ACS are now from the 2015 ACS. • Only fields that experienced a change in description and/or source table/field number will be listed below. In addition, any fields that were in the 2010 ACS/SF1 but are

no longer available in the 2015 ACS (or vice versa) will be listed. Please see these examples for clarification: o The field “Total Families” was from table B19101_1 in the 2010 ACS. It is still “Total Families” from table B19101_1 in 2015 ACS. Therefore it does not

appear on the list. o The field “Total Persons” was from table P0010001 in the 2010 SF1. It is now “Total Persons” from the table B01001_1 in the 2015 ACS. Therefore it does

appear on the list. o The field “Total population Non-Hispanic White and Black” was from table P0090013 in the 2010 SF1. It is not available in the 2015 ACS although the index

will be maintained for compatibility purposes. Therefore it does appear on the list. o The field “Total population-household type” was from table B09016_1 in the 2010 ACS. It is now “Total population-household type” from the table B09019_1

in the 2015 ACS because the original ACS table B09016_1 is no longer available. Therefore it does appear on the list. o The field “Owner occupied housing unit moved in 2005 or later” was from table B25038_3 in the 2010 ACS. It is still from table B25038_3 in the 2015 ACS,

but the field description will change to “Owner occupied housing unit moved in 2015 or later”. Therefore it does appear on the list. LIST OF FIELD CHANGES:

System Title: HMDA/CRA Descriptive File Name: 2017 Census File Format field changes for use with 2017 HMDA/CRA Data Notes: Old and New Data Source columns:

• SF1 indicates the data source is the 2010 Census Summary File 1. • ACS indicates the data source is the American Community Survey. ACS in the Old Data Source column indicates that the data source

was the 2010 ACS 5 year estimates. ACS in the New Data Source column indicates that the data source is the 2015 ACS 5 year estimates.

• Other indicates the data source comes from data other than one of the files provided by the Census Bureau. • NA indicates the data is not included in the file but is still present in the index for compatibility reasons.
