field study & k to 12 program
TRANSCRIPT
A Field Study is a general method for collecting data
about users, user need and product requirements.
Field Study observed users as they work, taking notes on
particular activities and often asking questions of the
users.
Field Study collect originator unconventional data via face
to face interviews, survey or direct observations.
Field Study collected data of learning and development of
the student.
Field Study allows for us (learner) to be exposed to new
environment in order to increase their depth of
understanding.
Field Study provide the hands on experience that is often
seen as critical for skill development.
The K to 12 Programs covers 13 years of basic
education with the following stages:
Kindergarten to Grade 3
Grades 4 to 6
Grades 7 to (Junior High School)
Grades 11 and 12 (Senior High School)
The current curriculum has been enhanced for
the K to 12 and now gives more focus to allow
mastery of learning.
For the new Senior High School grades
(Grades 11 and 12) core subjects such as
Mathematics, Science and Language will be
strengthened. Specializations or tracks in
students’ areas of interest will also be offered.
Yes. Republic Act No. 10157 or the
Kindergarten Education Act, institutionalizes
Kindergarten as part of the basic education
system and is a pre-requisite for admission to
Grade 1.
The principle of MTB-MLE is to use the
language that learners are most comfortable
and familiar with; therefore, the common
language in the are or lingua franca shall be
used as the language of instruction.
Senior High School (SHS) covers the
last two years of the K to 12 Program and
includes Grades 11 and 12. In SHS,
students will go through a core
curriculum and subjects under a track of
their choice.
Yes. These two additional years will equip
learners with skills that will better prepare them for
the future whether it be:
Employment
Entrepreneurship
Skills Development (Further Tech-Voc training
Higher Education (College)
Students will undergo assessments to determine
their strengths and interests. These will include an
aptitude test, a career assessment examination,
and an occupational interest inventory for high
schools. Career advocacy activities will also be
conducted to help guide students in choosing their
specialization or track.
Specializations or tracks to be offered will be
disrupted according to the resources available
in the area, the needs and interest of most
students, and the opportunities and demands of
the community.
Yes, according to the law. Beginning
SY 2016-2017, you must go through
Grades 11 and 12 to graduate from
High School.
You will be Grade 10 completer, but not
a High School graduate. Elementary
graduates are those who finish Grade 6;
High School graduates must have finished
Grade 12.
SHS covers eight learning areas as part of its
core curriculum, and adds specific tracks
(similar to college courses) based on four
disciplines:
Academic
(which includes Business, Science and
Engineering, Humanities and Social Science,
and a General Academic strand)
Technical-Vocational-Livelihood
(with highly specialized subjects
with TESDA qualifications)
Sports
Arts and Design
Existing public and private schools, including
colleges, universities and technical institutions
may offer SHS.
There may also be stand-alone SHS established by
DepEd or private organizations.
WHAT ARE THE VIEWS OF TEACHER REGARDING K TO 12 PROGRAM.
“ THE CURRENT CURRICULUM HAS BEEN ENHANCED AND
HAS BEEN GIVE MORE FOCUS TO ALLOW MASTERY OF
LEARNING. IT IS DUTY TO BE AWARE OF REFORMS IN
BASIC EDUCATION. K TO 12 CURRICULUM WAS
DESIGNED TO ADDRESS DIVERSE LEARNER NEEDS, AND
MAY BE ADAPTED TO FIT SPECIFIC LEARNER GROUPS. IT
HELP GUIDE STUDENTS IN CHOOSING CAREER TRACKS
THEY INTENT TO PURSUE. THE DEPED DIDN'T READY TO
OUR NEW CURRICULUM.
BASED ON MY OBSERVATION THEY DO THE TRIAL AND ERROR.
THE KPUP (KNOWLEDGE, PROCESS, UNDERSTANDING,
PRODUCT) GRADING SYSTEM THAT USING ONLY FOR FOUR
YEARS IS CHANGE FOR K TO 12. ALSO THE TEACHERS DIDN'T
READY FOR THE NEW CURRICULUM. THE TEACHERS NEED A
TRAINING AND SEMINARS ABOUT K TO 12 CURRICULUM. “
- APHOL ARCE
“ K TO 12 PROGRAM IS BETTER
IN HIGHER LEVEL NOT IN THE
PRIMARY LEVEL. BECAUSE IN
PRIMARY LEVEL THEY WILL LET
THE CHILD TO PASSED, EVEN
THOUGH THE CHILD DIDN’T
REALLY LEARNED FROM THE
PASSED YEARS.”
– GRADE 2 TEACHER
WHAT ARE YOUR REACTIONS ON THE VIEWS OF THE TEACHERS?
“ K-12 IS ABOUT HOW TO GIVE TO THE STUDENT HOW TO
FOCUS TO STUDY FOR TO MASTER THEIR SUBJECT AREA
GIVE TO THE STUDENTS BEST CAREER IN OUR FUTURE. ALL
TEACHER WE NEED TO TAKE TRAINING AND SEMINAR FOR K
TO 12. ”
– EMMANUEL C. ALBES
“ K-12 PROGRAM IS THE PROCESS OF BUILDING A HOW TO
MASTERY THE SUBJECT AREA FROM THE PREP. TO COLLEGE IN
K-12 WHEN THE CHILD DIDN'T LEARNED THIS STUDENT
CANNOT ENTER TO NEXT GRADE LEVEL WE NEED TO TAKE
AGAIN THIS GRADE LEVEL BECAUSE TO THEIR LEARNING IN
THE WHOLE YEAR IS NOT ENOUGH OR NOT DESERVED FOR
NEXT GRADE LEVEL. “
- JENNY F. DE VERA
“ TEACHERS SHOULD NOT BE BLAMED FOR THE POOR QUALITY OF
EDUCATION WE HAVE IN THE PHILIPPINES. WE ARE STILL IN TRIAL AND
ERROR PROCESS. K TO 12 PROGRAM IS ONE OF THE MAJOR SOLUTION OF
THE DEPED. UPGRADING THE QUALITY EDUCATION HERE IN THE
PHILIPPINES MAY HELP EVERY INDIVIDUAL TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE. THE
TEACHER ARE STILL IN THE PROCESS OF ADOPTING THE NEW
CURRICULUM BASED. DEPED CONDUCTED SEMINAR OR TRAININGS FOR
THE TEACHER, SO THAT THEY WILL BE TO PREPARED AND TO SEE THE
WHOLE POINT OF VIEW OF K TO 12 PROGRAM. “
– JEREMIA A. MARAVILLA
“ THERE ARE SOME NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE POINTS ON THE TEACHERS’ REACTION REGARDING THE K TO 12 PROGRAM. ACCORDING TO ONE OF THE TEACHER, K TO 12 IS DESIGN TO ADDRESS DIVERSE LEARNERS NEEDS, AND MAY BE ADAPTED TO SPECIFIC LEARNER GROUPS. BUT OTHER TEACHER DO NOT APPROVED THE K TO 12 PROGRAM IN THE PRIMARY LEVEL. THEY SAID THAT THE K TO 12 PROGRAM IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO THE HIGHER LEVEL. “
– KIMBERLY P. MAGCALAS
“ I AGREED OF THEIR POINT OF VIEW REGARDING TO K TO
12 PROGRAM. BUT THE TEACHER AND APHOL ARCE ARE
JUST FOCUSING ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE OF K TO 12
PROGRAM. TEACHER AND APHOL ARCE DIDN’T SEE OR
LOOK FOR THE POSITIVE SIDE OF THE PROGRAM THAT
WILL HELP TO BECOME MORE GLOBALLY COMPETITIVE. “
– CHARREN G. ENTAC
“ YES, I AM AGREE ABOUT THE K TO 12 PROGRAM, BECAUSE WE CAN
COMPETE TO OTHER COUNTRY LIKE IN ACADEMIC FIELDS.
AND SPECIALLY WE CAN HAVE WORK EXPERIENCES WHILE
STUDYING; AND SOME COMPANIES CAN EVEN HIRE YOU AFTER
GRADUATING. “
– ABEGAIL T. MAESTRE

WORRIES OF TEACHER“ MY WORRIES REGARDING TO K-12 PROGRAM.
THERE ARE SO MANY ACTIVITIES BUT THE
PUPILS CANNOT FINISH. THE PROGRAM IS
TOO STRESSFUL.
I DISAGREE ABOUT “ NO CHILD IS LEFT
BEHIND” BECAUSE THEY WILL LET THE CHILD
TO PASSED EVEN THOUGH THEY CAN’T READ.
AND BASED ON MY OBSERVATION AS A
GRADE 2 TEACHER THERE ARE TOO MANY
NON – READER IN CLASS. “
