ip History The Smith Center for the Performing Arts
The bus will leave at 9 am. Upon arrival at the Smith Center, students will tour this historic
building and see a matinee. Fine art exposure has been shown to augment students’ learning abilities and increase cultural understanding.
Students will be instructed to bring a sack lunch to be eaten in symphony park and there will be
4 parent chaperones. The bus will depart at 12:30. An application for this field trip has been
submitted.

Economics Bank Manager
This guest speaker will speak about the value of money, importance of saving, and supply and
demand. They could also implement the idea of needs and wants into their discussion with the
class.

History The Statue of Liberty Virtual Tour
Statue of Liberty TourThis virtual tour takes students inside the walls of this historic monument. It tours the inside of
Lady Liberty and takes viewers from her pedestal to her crown. From there, one can see Ellis Island, where millions of immigrants arrived in America. The tour also covers the history and
making of this famous monument.
Civics The White House Virtual Tour
Welcome to the White House Virtual TourThis video and picture tour takes one inside the White House, to the Oval Office, West Wing, the
front lawn, the Situation Room and highlights other important features. Videos demonstrate the many uses of each room, and President Obama is featured in many of the videos.

ip Geography Red Rock Canyon Natural Conservation Center
The bus will depart the school at 9 am. Upon arrival at Red Rock Canyon, a ranger will
conduct grade specific lessons. Students will explore the tortoise habitat, Discovery Plaza,
and the trails around the visitor’s center. They will receive a close up view of this geographic formation. There will be 4 parent chaperones
riding along with the class. Students will bring a sack lunch. The bus will return to school at 12:50. An application has been filled out and
submitted.

Civics Former Mayor Oscar Goodman
Mr. Goodman will visit the classroom and talk about his experiences being Mayor of Las Vegas for over a decade. He will discuss his accomplishments, improvements, and challenges he faced while leading the city. Students will have the chance to learn the duties and leadership skills needed for this position. He will speak for approximately 45 minutes, with a question and answer period at the end.

Geography Grand Canyon Virtual Tour, Video, and Webcams
Grand Canyon Virtual TourStudents will have the opportunity to view the sights and sounds of the historic national park, the Grand Canyon. The tour shows important land formations and sites such as the South
Rim, the Furnace Flats, the Colorado River, and others. The video demonstrates how archeology in the Grand Canyon has unveiled how people
once lived in these harsh conditions.
History The Smithsonian Museum of Natural History Virtual Tour
Smithsonian Museum of Natural History Tour This virtual field trip takes one inside the
exhibits at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. The tour uses high resolution,
panoramic shots and each room can be rotated 360°. Labelled blue arrows guide the way. This famous building displays artifacts, fossils, and
other historical exhibits.

1. Explain which field trip you are most excited about.
The field trip I am most excited about is the Smith Center for Performing Arts. It provides a behind-the-scenes look at this historic building and how much effort and dedication is put into creating these famous productions played here. I think it will be exciting for the students as well, to have the opportunity to view the fine arts.
2. What challenges did you run into during this assignment?
The greatest challenge I ran into during this assignment was deciding which field trip or virtual tour was appropriate for each age group. Most of the field trips and virtual tours could easily adapted into other age groups.
