He even shared how he is “the real Jerry Dugan” in reference to his blog. His humor, stories, energy and enthusiasm created interest in the materials and engaged the participants. He stayed grounded under pressure, and remained playful throughout. Jerry showed a strong belief in the effectiveness of what he was teaching, with the thoughtful stories/examples he shared that linked to the ideas, and his ability to address pushback/challenges. He listened and responded to participants’ comments well, demonstrating acceptance (“yes, and…”) and skill in his response. For example, he said “good point” to a participants’ pushback “I may want to delegate tasks” [rather than responsibilities]. He managed additional pushback effectively as well, when I said “Why would I delegate with this criteria?” he asked me to “just consider” it. With the Mokita Amnesty Day pushback, he opened up the question to the group and then shared his thoughts, which was effective. When I asked if the decision tree was like Situational Leadership, he seemed stumped a bit. We don’t need to know every model, and we can answer honestly, perhaps by saying “I’m not familiar with that, tell me more.” Jerry clearly demonstrated his comfort with and knowledge of the content. He linked the ideas to examples and stories, and was able to speak to comments in the moment. One thing he overlooked was talking about the positive side of “gradually, then suddenly” of Idea 1, which is important to bring out. Additionally, in delegation, when a participant says “there’s no time to delegate” I encourage him to ask the question if we were asked to take on a project we’d love, even if we have little time, would we accept it; then, talk about this as the “essence of employee engagement” as mentioned in the Facilitator Guide. I like how he chose to use the “Game of Life” content with Idea 1. While his military story was good, he may want to condense it a bit.

Jerry was warm and welcoming, and very authentic in his facilitation. He even shared how he is “the real Jerry Dugan” in reference to his blog. His humor, stories, energy and enthusiasm created interest in the materials and engaged the participants. He stayed grounded under pressure, and remained playful throughout.

He listened and responded to participants’ comments well, demonstrating acceptance (“yes, and…”) and skill in his response. CERTIFICATION

Master Facilitator Kendra Carpenter Date 6/15/2015

v.2012.1010

Jerry is certified at the Leaf Level as a Fierce Conversations Facilitator. Per the agreement, he can deliver the content of the two-day Fierce Conversations course on his own to his in-house clients. As with all Fierce facilitators, we encourage Jerry to co-facilitate when possible. It was a pleasure to work with Jerry, and I look forward to hearing about more of his successes in rolling out Fierce!

Jerry referred to the toolkits and used the slides. He used the space well, moving deliberately. It felt as though he were having a conversation with us, which modeled the very principles we discuss. He provided thoughtful feedback.
