Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord Matthew presents Jesus as an enigma to Pilate and a blasphemer to the Jews. Jesus refuses to converse with Pilate, who condemns him. Paul describes the kenosis of Christ, his emptying of himself in order to be glorified. Isaiah’s messiah is a servant who suffers for his people. We see Christ as the Suffering Servant for us all.

Faith Formation will be hosting a fundraiser for our church each Friday night through Friday, April 11, 2014 at 6:30 PM in the Parish Hall. Please look for our flyer with the Lenten Dinner Menu in the upcoming bulletins. All plates for $8.00 with a drink and dessert included. Look for more information in the coming weeks.

Confirmation Second Thursday Candidates Session The Second Thursday Candidates Session on Gifts of the Holy Spirit will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 PM in the Parish Hall. Candidates should bring their Bible, notebook, and favorite pen. Second Thursday Parents Meeting Parents Meeting will be held on Thursday, April 10 at 8:00 PM in the Parish Hall. Information on the April/May schedule, bazaar, and summer activities will be discussed. The sponsors may substitute in the parent's absence. Please do not bring small children.

OLMC Bazaar Raffle Tickets Hopefully, everyone has received their OLMC Bazaar raffle tickets. This year’s bazaar will be held on Sunday, May 4, from 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Our Carmel Downs drawings will be held after all Masses on Sunday, April 13, for $100; Sunday, April 20 for $75; and Sunday, April 27 for $50. Remember, to be eligible, the seller must have sold their $100 quota. You may turn in your tickets to the Parish Center or drop them into the collection basket on Sunday. The bazaar is a major fundraiser for the parish and we will need everyone’s support. If you have any questions regarding the main raffle please call John & Lillian Kozel at 832-439-6634.

OLMC School News OLMC School Needs You!

School Board 2014-15 As a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish, we would like to invite you to consider participating in the ministry of our school. OLMC School is actively seeking current parishioners, current parents, or former parents of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School who would be willing to devote some time to serve as a member of our school board. Meetings normally occur once monthly on the third Tuesday of the month from 6:30 - 8:00 PM at the school. The work of the school board is to lead and participate in committees that assist with the short and long-term needs of the school, as well as to function as an advisory body to the pastor and the principal, to identify and articulate the educational needs and aspirations of the school and school community. We currently are in need of 3 to 5 new members. If you are interested in discerning for one of these positions, please email the principal, Mr. Michael Duran at mduran@olmchou.org or call him at the school at 713-643-0676 with your interest and availability or even just to learn more about this ministry opportunity and discernment for a school board position.

Is there a 3 or 4 year old in your life?

Pre-K Enrollment 2014-15! OLMC School is now accepting registrations for the 2014-15 school year, which begins in mid-August. Of special interest are those families with 3 or 4 year old children who are interested in our Pre-Kindergarten program. Our Pre-K program is an academic program in which students begin to learn the fundamentals of school behavior, academics, and faith. Students begin learning their letters, numbers, colors, prayers, etc, in Pre-K3 and in Pre-K4, they begin learning to read with the Happily Ever After reading readiness program from Rowland Reading Foundation. If your child will be age 3 and toilet-trained by September 1, 2014 they qualify to enroll in Pre-K3. If they will be age 4 by September 1, 2014, they will qualify to enroll in Pre-K4. Como feligrés de la parroquia Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, queremos invitarlo a usted a considerar su participación en el ministerio de nuestra escuela. La escuela OLMC está buscando feligreses activos, o padres actuales o antiguos de la Escuela Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo que estén dispuestos a dedicar parte de su tiempo para servir como miembro activo de nuestro consejo escolar. Normalmente las reuniones se realizan una vez al mes, el tercer Martes de cada mes entre las 6:30 y las 8:00 PM en la escuela. El trabajo de la junta escolar es liderar y participar en comités que colaboran con las necesidades a corto y largo plazo que tiene la escuela, y para funcionar como órgano asesor del párroco y el director, y así identificar y articular las necesidades educativas y las aspiraciones de la comunidad escolar en general. Actualmente estamos en la necesidad de 3 a 5 nuevos miembros. ¡Matrículas para Pre-K en el 2014-15! La Escuela OLMC está aceptando inscripciones para el año escolar 2014-15, que comienza a mediados de Agosto. Las familias con niños de 3 ó 4 años de edad que estén interesados en el programa de Pre-Kindergarten son de nuestro especial interés. Nuestro programa de Pre-K es un programa académico en el que los estudiantes comienzan a aprender los fundamentos de la conducta escolar, académica y de fe. Los estudiantes comienzan a aprender sus letras, números, colores, oraciones, etc, en el Pre-K3 y en Pre-K4, inician su aprendizaje de lectura con el programa de preparación de la Fundación “Rowland Reading”. Si su hijo(a) va a tener los 3 años cumplidos y ya está enseñado a ir al baño solo, de aquí al 1ro. de Septiembre 2014 entonces reúne los requisitos para inscribirse en nuestro programa Pre-K3. Si
