Technology Before WWI▪ Before WWI, movements towards deadlier
and deadlier weapons was already in motion.
▪ Guns could now hold several bullets without having to reload after each shot.

What changed?
▪ industrialization affected every aspect of how humans went about killing one another.
▪ For the first time, mass production methods were applied to weapons and to the technology of warfare in general.
▪ Advances in metallurgy and in chemical industries had created new firepower that made defense almost invincible and attack almost impossible.
▪ This is why trench warfare exists during WWI.

Tomorrow’s Activity▪ In groups, you will be assigned one weapon of WWI. You will fill out the
chart for that weapon.
▪ You must also create a poster to present to the class that provides a brief overview of that weapon (how it worked, why it was so deadly, etc.). This must include some sort of picture as well.
▪ As each group presents on that weapon, you will be responsible for filling in the rest of your chart.
▪ Tomorrow when you come in, you should get right to work with your group.
