On February 5, 2020, your Committee considered a Motion (Martinez - Rodnguez - Buscaino - Ryu) relative to the creation of a youth internship program for low-income high school students to introduce these students to City jobs According to the Motion, internship inequality and exposure to careers are some of the ways low-income youth are limited in their career decisions. Creating internship programs in every City department designed to expose low-income nigh school students to the City workforce would give these students valuaole experience, potentially an economic opportunity, and would help inform decisions about their career after high school or college. After consideration and having provided an opportunity for public comment, the Committee moved to recommend approval of the Motion as derailed above.
