CARDINAL RITTER HIGH SCHOOL

SENIOR BULLETIN

February 2017

Seniors:

It’s February! It’s time to check in on your future plans. College decisions made? Have you received acceptances? Do you know where you will be attending? Do you still need to apply? If you have finalized your decision, please send in your housing deposit, etc. to the university/college. This is usually nonrefundable. Details should be noted in your acceptance letter on what needs to be done. As a courtesy, please withdraw your application to any other school where you have been accepted. You can do that by notifying the admissions office for each school.

Not yet sure which school? Or maybe you still need to complete some applications? Please come to the guidance office, if you would like some help with the process.

As always, please be sure to bring in your scholarship award letters and also your college acceptance letters. We want to make sure you are being recognized for your hard work!

Finally, please remember this semester still counts! Your final transcript will be given to the university/college you attend for review in June. Please continue to do your best. If you need any assistance, please come see us in the guidance office!

Mrs. Lettich

ANCILLA COLLEGE-

Ancilla College’s four favorite search databases are all free. These sites have their own listings and search engines that allow you to search for scholarships in your region, state, degree interest, and other criteria.

FastWeb, maybe the biggest of these sites, with over a billion dollars in scholarships listed. Fastweb is an acronym for Financial Aid Search Through the WEB- http://www.fastweb.com/

Chegg, began as a student job and textbook-trading website but today has great student resources and loads of scholarship resources to search though. http://www.chegg.com

Big Future from College Board (the same company that produces the SAT) is here- https://bigfuture.collegeboard.org/scholarship-search

CollegeNet, a developer of web technology for higher education and non-profit institutions, is another great resource- http://www.collegenet.com/mach25/app

*Start by searching for scholarships in the subject matter or degree field you want. Use your interests, and geographic location, to narrow the search

**Tips from Ancilla College regarding scholarships :

-Apply, and apply, and apply some more-Don’t Miss Deadlines-Read Eligibility Requirements Carefully-Get Organized- (make a separate file, or ‘save as’ a copy with a different file name on your computer for each scholarship and sort the files by application due dates)-Follow Instructions-Check/Review Your Application-Keep Copies of Everything!-Fill out your FAFSA-Beware... Don’t ever, ever, ever pay money for a ‘scholarship guide’ or any ‘application fee’ to apply for a scholarship. If someone is charging you money to give you money, there’s a problem. For more info: www.ancilla.edu
