The Rainmaker

A scene in which an obligation arises from law is when Kelly Ricker was admitted in the hospital with different types of injuries. The police found her beaten up, lying on the sofa and wrapped around a blanket naked. Cliff Ricker, her spouse, was intoxicated, highly agitated and he beat his wife with a baseball bat. The passive subject should be Cliff Ricker and the active subject is Kelly Ricker. The prestation is to do and the juridical tie is crimes or acts or omissions punished by law.

A scene in which an obligation arises from a contract is when Rudy visited the house of Dot and Buddy Black. They have a 22-year old son named Donny Ray who is dying from leukemia. The only way to save him is by conducting a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, their insurance carrier denies giving them any funds for their sons medical fees. Rudy hands out papers to the mom and Donny while explaining that it is a contract to be agreed upon and signed by the three. In the contract, it is stated that the people who shall agree to sign this contract is to hire the lawyers to handle the case and that the latter shall handle any of the expenses that might incur during the process. In return, the lawyers shall get 1/3 of the recovery from the insurance carrier. The passive subject is the lawyer who is supposed to render service to Black family. The active subject is the Black family who shall demand fulfillment to the service agreed by them and the lawyer. The prestation is to do, and the juridical tie is the agreement or contract.

This film teaches people to always fight for what is just and right no matter how difficult it may get because in the end, if you strive hard enough, all the efforts will sure be worth it and good things will follow through.
