Cinematography & Camera Techniques

They have used a wide shot of the world with a shooting star going over, obviously they haven’t been able to do this with an actual camera so they have had to do this by using CGI.

Visual Effects & Colour Scheme

They have made it look as though someone else has managed to catch this shooting star on camera, they have done this by changing the quality to look worse so it is obviously not a good quality camera and they have put in a recording symbol in the top right which are displayed don most generic hand held cameras.

Genre Conventions By showing a building burring you can already tell that this genre convention is an action film, also they show someone flying and coming to the rescue so it is also a fantasy film as well as a science fiction one. This is because it is not real life but based in an alternative world.

Narrative We are shown a bit on the characters past where he is winning a lot of sporting awards and is known as the best athlete in the town in which he lives. This gives us a hint that the character we are watching isn’t normal and is capable of doing some seriously impressive things.

Editing Techniques They have printed a news article based around the character and they are going through it as though it is us reading the newspaper ourselves and moving our head and flipping this page. This really connects us into the film.

Title Credit Design The film is called “man of steel” and that is why the title credits look like they are 3D and made of a metal, e.g. steel. This is clever as it is a play on the film’s title as well the film look bold and giving it strength.
