Poster #1

I think that this poster is very effective because of the image as it is very surreal but looks creepy. The shadow around the eye is strong as it helps it look realistic. This would grab the audiences eye because you can’t tell what is actually happening, the only thing that you can see what it is about is eyes, this is clear as the title of the film is ‘The Eye’ and the words ‘EYE’ are in bold which suggest that this has a significant meaning to the storyline of this film. The audience would also question why there is fingertip coming out of the eye which I think is very intriguing as it makes you wonder what has it got to do with the eye, and my answer would be that maybe this person is seeing things that they shouldn’t. Overall I think that this is an effective poster as it makes you question realism.

Poster #2

I think that this poster is very eye catching to me as it looks very realistic but knowing that it actually couldn’t happen. I like the style of writing on the film title because of the line going through it and the parts where it looks smudged which looks like light is reflecting of it and that could have something to do with the storyline. I think that the image is very successful as it links in with the film title ‘The Possession’ because it looks like the hand it trying to take ‘possession’ of the body. Because of the plain background behind the person, to me it looks like she is in hospital, also because of the costume she is wearing as it looks like something that patients are given when in hospital which I think works well all together.

Poster #3

I think that the effects on this poster are very interesting. The shattered glass is effective because it makes it seem that the person is going through it which is helps with the effect of the slit person. What I mean by this is that on the top half of the glass the face is human and on the bottom half it looks more like a skeleton. This could be trying to show that the glass is going to have a massive impact upon this persons face which I think works very well as it also I think links in with the film title ‘The Final Destination’ as it could be portraying that she is going to die and glass is going to be involved. The words ‘Rest In Pieces’ are also link in with the whole image and the title as it is glass that has been smashed into pieces and it suggests that she is going to die.

Poster #4

I like this poster because of what it is trying to imply. The whole nun thing is very interesting as nuns are supposed to be sinless and worship god, but for this nun she is involved with the devil which doesn’t usually happen. The words ‘No Soul is Safe’ is very creepy as it suggests that even if we are good something bad is going to happen and for this nun the extreme has happened as they try and keep people away from the devil but by the title implies that the devil is inside her. I think that this would catch a lot of peoples eyes because of the reasons I have just given and because at the top it says that it is ‘inspired by true events’ which makes it more scary. The effect over the background and image (the lines and smudges) makes it seem a little old fashioned because old films/videos used to have the lines going through it. I think that this creates more of a mysterious vibe with the added effect of the glare in the nuns eyes.

Poster #5

I think that this poster is very effective as it is hard to tell what the image is. I can slightly see that there are small images of people within this person face which they could be photos that someone has took which would link in with the title ‘SHUTTER’ as this word links in with a camera. I think that the shadow of the women is interesting as you can’t see her facial features but you can clearly see what emotion she is showing which is a frightened, screaming one. Also the fact that the eyes and mouth are just black holes are effective as it could be implying something that is going to happen to her which isn’t that noticeable. The writing at the top works well because it tells its audience that the producers of these previous films made this one, and if the views liked these films then they would want to see this film when is comes out.
