The tripod is a 3 legged stand which is use to hold a camera when filming. The tripod is very good for getting a clear, stable shot.

The disadvantage of using a tripod is that they can be very heavy to carry around.

To have an even more stable shot sandbags can be used in order to hold the tripod’s weight down.

Lighting equipment can be used when filming in order to add light to the scene or the character being filmed. The lighting will add brightness & tone to the scene which will give a clearer view of the characters facial features.

In today’s society there are many different types of camera’s. Also cameras are used for many different reason by many people.

Today we have digital camera’s which have been developed in order to give us the best quality picture, lighting & filming.

About 20 years ago there would only be a small amount you could do with camera’s. For example if a person eye had red dots you wouldn’t of been able to edited it out.

Rule of thirds is a method used when filming. Rule of thirds helps to centre the important features in the shot & must touch the four lines that are in the middle.

180 degree rule is another method used when filming to capture the relationship between the characters. There is an imagery line called the axis which connects the characters by keeping the camera directly on that specific scene so that it doesn’t jump from different ends.

When creating a film there are many different types of shots, angles & movements that you can include to get the best effect for the scene or photo.

Camera Shots: •Extreme close up – this shot only shows one detail of a person or object. •Close up – this show can show up to two people in the shot. •Long shot – this shot will be able to capture the entire surround of a person or object. •Mid shot – this shot can capture only a head to chest shot. Camera Angles: •High angle – this show will be able to capture the person from above. •Low angle – this show will be able to capture the person from below.

Camera movements: •Panning – is the way of moving the camera when filming. •Tilting – is when moving the camera up and down. •Dolly shot – is when the camera is following an object or person which makes the audience feel like they are following them too. •Shot reverse shot – is when the camera is moved too show the characters having a conversation with each other.
