Discussions – using ideas to analyse Discussion about concentrating on using ideas to explain your ‘theories in use’.

We talked about using the Hustle as a network – and how when you engaged with this community of practice that you what you did was purposeful – so the idea of relevancy – then it was suggested that this idea was like “castability” so so your engagement was “tailored” with your network

These concepts help to bring out meaning – like the ideas of affiliation (Crisp and Turner). If you use ideas – cite the sources in the text or the Reader where you got the ideas…

It will be interesting to see how these ideas can be found in the works of other experts at communication/networking…

We also talked about creating your own models, like the Lave and Wenger model, to help abstract what we find…

It was suggested that the Lave and Wenger model could be compared to the acting process: One suggestion was to adapt the model for Acting: e.g. self- actors –audience and following this line of thinking someone else relted this model to the Stanislavsky’s circles of attention... The idea is to synthesis the important points that made you think about you practice in Module 1.

The best advice is to compose the Critical Reflection synthesis the three main themes – notes on how you might do this are in the Handbook.

You can add references (citations and a Bibliography) to show where you got the ideas, you can add hyperlinks to the text to link your blogs, you can add important details and explanation in the appendices (so important blogs can be cut and pasted, journal extracts, other pieces of evidence to illustrate practice. Send this for feedback from your tutor

Harvard Referencing From the IWBL Referencing Guide (2013)

• You must provide a reference in two cases: • - When you use someone else’s exact words. In this case you will put the quotation in

inverted commas, insert an in-text quotation with the exact page (see below) which will match the item on the reference list at the end of the work.

• - When you paraphrase someone else’s ideas. In this case no direct quotation is necessary but you will still need to insert an in-text quotation. You might or might not reference to exact pages according to the circumstances. For instance, if you only refer to the general contribution of a book in its field you don’t need a precise page reference. However, if you are paraphrasing something more detailed which is to be found on a precise page, you must reference it.

Think about a report - this is ‘in the style of’ but you can also add audio-visual and visual files to your portfolio if they do not fit into this format.

Submit your draft to your tutor for written feedback.

Remember it is a creative process so work on a rough draft – SAVE AS version 2 – send this one – then have a tutorial with your tutor afterwards if you need to discuss…

Communicate in images and audio visual as well as text where appropriate.

1000 words – you can do 10% over allowed so 1100 wordcount...put extra things you need beyond this summary in your appendices – your tutor feedback will help

Best advice – write about what you are passionate about in terms of the learning you have done on Module 1!
