The Automatic Control Valve, the word is self explanatory. It is a highly engineered Automatic Control Valve

knowledgeably designed to operate off line pressure or if desired, from an independent power source and

pilots. Flow age valves are hydraulically operated, diaphragm actuated for multi-function control of non

corrosive, nonabrasive fluids.

Size Range : 25mm to 500mm

Pressure Rating : Class 150 & 300

MAIN VALVE DESIGN

The main valve is Self Actuating Type, Pilot Operated, Globe/Angle Pattern, Top & Bottom Guided, Glandless,

Hydraulically Operated, and Diaphragm Actuated for multifunction control of less viscous, non corrosive, non

abrasive fluids.

Our wide range of control pilots makes it possible to offer combination models for variety of functions. The main

valves contain only one moving part. This simplicity of design promotes dependability, making the maintenance

easier and extend the life of the valve.

The lower portion of main valve diaphragm assembly is a mechanical check feature, which acts independently

of diaphragm position or pilot control system, and provide immediate check action when flow ceases.

MAIN VALVE CONSTRUCTION

The main valve consist only three major components; Body, Cover and the Top & Bottom Guided Diaphragm

Assembly which is the only moving parts in the main valve making the online maintenance very easy.

With simplicity of design & packless construction, minimum part wear is there which assure trouble free

operation & long life of dependable.

“Flow-Tek” is available in various materials and in full range of sizes with either threaded or flanged ends

MAIN VALVE OPERATING PRINCIPLE

The main valve is normally closed, when pressure is applied to the valve inlet the same pressure is applied to the bonnet also

(upper chamber) the valve remains close. By controlling the pressure in the bonnet the valve can be made fully open or

closed.

When pressure in the cover chamber is released to a lower pressure zone the line pressure at the valve inlet opens the valve

allowing full flow.

MODULATING ACTION

FLOW AGE valves are hydraulically operated, by introducing or releasing the liquid from above the diaphragm at controlled rates. A pressure

differential is required, either inlet to outlet or inlet to atmosphere, depending on application.

The control valve holds any intermediate position when operating pressures are equal above and below the diaphragm. The control pilot modulates

the valve to automatically compensate for line pressure changes.

SELECTION

By varying the pilots and piping arrangement this valve is able to perform a diversity functions and Application. Multiple function

performed by a single valve can result in added system protection and lower cost to user The main valve and pilot valve can be

Valves are sized to provide an appropriate pressure drop for each application. The minimum pressure drop should be 5 psi for inlet to atmosphere and 10 psi from inlet to outlet.

“Flow-Tek” Valves are design for use with clean liquid (water, ATF) application for other media is possible, consult factory.

FUNCTIONS

ACV FTV 100 (UL LISTED DELUGE VALVE)

Deluge systems are connected to a water supply through a deluge valve that is opened by the operation of a smoke or heat detection system. The detection system is installed in the same area as the sprinklers. When the detection system is activated water discharges through all of the sprinkler heads in the system. Deluge systems are used in places that are considered high hazard areas such as power plants, aircraft hangars and chemical storage or processing facilities. Deluge systems are needed where high velocity suppression is necessary to prevent fire spread.

PNEUMATIC OPERATED DIGITAL CONTROL VALVE

Diaphragm type Digital Control Valves, electro hydraulically operated by Diaphragm – self fluid actuated type having resilient (soft) seating for zeroleakage to leakage class VI as per ANSI FCI-70-2 (ANSI B16.104).They use FT-100 (Globe Straight) or FT-2100 (Globe - Y) Basic valve, which is a packless design, Top and bottom guided for vibration-free movement. FT-118 MODEL FOR SLOW ACTING CHECK VALVE (OPENING / CLOSING SPEED CONTROL)

Provides automatic filling of elevated tanks or reservoirs. When the altitude control senses a drop in level below the predetermined set point the valve opens to fill tank. Supply pressure is greater then static head pressure. Discharge of the tank is by separate line or when altitude control senses below the predetermined set point of the valve opens to fill the tank, the valve opens the Discharge when the head pressure more than the supply pressure.

FT-114 MODEL FOR RATE OF FLOW CONTROL VALVE

Maintains a constant flow rate, adjustable, regardless of functions in the line pressure. The rate of flow pilot senses the differential pressure across the thin edge orifice plate mounted in the valve inlet flange. it responds to change the pressure and modulates the main valve to maintain the desired flow. DESCRIPTION :

“FLOWAGE” MAKE Control Valve is a device capable of modulating flow at varying degrees between minimal flow and Full capacity in response to a signal from an external control device. The control valve, often referred to as “the final control element,” is a critical part of any control loop, as it performs the physical Work and is the element that directly affects the process.

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION :

“FLOW-TEK” Control Valve is comprised of an actuator mounted to a valve. The valve modulates flow through movement of a valve plug in relation to the port(s) located within the valve body. The valve plug is Attached to a valve stem, which, in turn, is connected to the actuator. SPRING RANGE : Actuators are available using spring rates compatible with

valve and Trims size, actuator size and Process Conditions,

typical Spring range may be having approximately 12 or 24

psi spans Nominal air pressure to Diaphragm : 18 to 35 psi.

:PNEUMATIC / DIAPHRAGM ACTUATED :“Flow-Tek” Pneumatic Actuators are direct acting and utilize an air signal from an external control Device to create a modulating control action. The force of the air signal is received into the Actuator through a top port and distributed across the full area of the actuator's diaphragm. The Diaphragm presses down on the diaphragm plate and spring return assembly, which then moves the valve stem and plug assembly downward to stroke the valve. This actuator will move to a Stem-out position in the event of air signal failure. The choice of valve action (stem-In-To-Close or stem-In-To-Open) will determine its signal failure position.

STEAM DESUPERHEATERING The most practical way of reducing the superheat value of steam is by the direct addition of water. To achieve temperature stability of the conditioned steam and prevent thermal shock in downstream pipes, cooling water must be atomized. It is also necessary to have a correct mix of superheated steam and cooling water.

The potential to reduce the degree of outlet superheat is limited by the capability of control system. Almost all desuperheaters are used to reduce the steam (or gas) temperature as close to saturation as possible.

Most desuperheater models (types) are actually capable of achieving saturation or close to the saturation. The cavities that these units must be controlled precisely to prevent flooding of the whole system. The limitation of the control system is its sensitivity range. Consider a system with a controlled outlet temperature set at 1 °C above the saturation, where the controls are designed to maintain +/- 1 Deg.C.

The cooling water injection into the steam will continue till the temperature falls to saturation.. Then only the controls will reduce the cooling water injection. Due to the delays inherent in the control system (specifically introduction of derivative band) which is not in scope of desuperheater manufacturer, cooling water will continue to flow at the design rate for a short time. In that small amount of time, the saturated steam will be allowed to condense. Condensing vapor creates a vacuum, which sucks in more vapor, which too continues to condense. This results in loss of control, downstream equipment may be damaged & the downstream processes may be severely affected. Due to these reasons, we have opted to not guarantee DE superheating lower than 4 - 5 °C above the saturation. The downstream processes do not suffer much from such small amount of superheat.
