thouGhts and experiments

My first experiment for Fmp, came to my mind through researching my topic, economic crisis in Greece. I collected sayings and slogans from walls, papers, signs in riots, that were written by greeks during the riots and evolution against the political system and the misery that was brought into their lives. Gratifies and usually paint on anything in the city was always a revolutionary and vivid way to express feelings, either po or people’s or teenager’s.

The second experiment is a video mashup of what I’ve seen. Defenetely the strongest and more direct medium for this subject were videos, documentaries, news . So all this time that I’ve been watching so many videos I tried to collect the ones I like the most and do a mixture that would be an interesting moving image.

experiment:video mashupreferences and techniques

A video mashup (also written as video mash-up) is the combination of multiple sources of videos which usually have no relation with each other, other than a derivative work, often lampo oning its component sources or another text.

experiment:video mashuptechniques: Glitch art

Glitches are the frustrating byproduct of technology gone awry. Wildly scrambled images, frozen blue screens, and garbled sounds signify moments where we want to throw our expensive computer products out the window. Many artists and programmers, however, have embraced these crisis moments and discovered beauty in the glitch.

experiment:video mashup techniques: slit scan photoGraphy

In slit-scan photography (aka strip photography), rather than opening and closing a shutter, you drag a narrow slit across the film from one side to the other over some period of time. Stationary objects lo ok normal, but moving objects become distorted because they are in different places as the slit passes over different parts of the film.

adam curtisdocumentaries

In relation with my current work he he’s been a great inspiration since his topics, such as people, society, politics or culture really helped me on my way of thinking on the Greek crisis that is a cultural phenomenon. Great and simple documentaries, that is how I describe his work.

documentaryGlitchexperimentsI did my own experiments of glitch video on media from Greece. I did it on media because the pieces of the documentary that I am using glitch is on distortion of media and Greece’s start fo otage which show the distortion of the beautiful country.
