Welcome
On behalf of the National Hydraulics and Environment Laboratory and the Hydro Engineering
Center of Electricit de France, of the Research Group on Hydraulics in Environmental and
Civil Engineering of the Universit de Lige, and of the Laboratory of Hydraulic Constructions
of the Ecole Polytechnique Fdrale de Lausanne, we warmly welcome you to the second
International Workshop on Labyrinth and Piano Key Weirs in Chatou (Paris).
4 keynotes lectures and around 30 technical papers from 5 continents will be presented by
people with varied background (engineers, researchers and academics) to state and
summarize the current knowledge on Labyrinth and Piano Key weirs. Significant time will be
devoted to discussion in an environment willing to be friendly, co-operative and non-
competitive. Social and technical events including a guided tour in the EDF R&Ds Hydraulics
and Environment Laboratory, a sightseeing boat trip on the Seine River and a visit of the
Malarce dam will offer the opportunity for participants to meet and share as well as to
discover France.
We wish you a pleasant and fruitful workshop.
