IntroductionThe Final Project Workshop has the objective to present the results and recommendations achieved by the

project “Adapting small-scale irrigation to climate change in West and Central Africa (WCA) - AICCA”, funded

by IFAD and implemented by FAO, in collaboration with national partners.

The AICCA project aims at improving the sustainability and adaptation of small-scale irrigation systems to

climate change in the WCA region. It has been implemented in two phases:

1. A regional phase carried out in eight WCA countries (Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania,

Niger, Sierra Leone and Chad) to analyze the impacts of climate change on irrigation systems and the

available irrigation technologies and best practices used to adapt to climate change.

2. A country-level phase in four pilot countries (Côte d'Ivoire, Gambia, Mali and Niger) to analyze in

detail the impacts of climate change on irrigation systems and to propose adaptation measures to

climate change.

Objectives of the workshop• Presentthemainresultsoftheprojectachievedduringboththeregionalandcountry-levelphases.

• Sharetheexperiencesandlessonslearnedduringtheimplementationoftheproject.

• Discussconcreteapplicationsoftheprojectfindingsandresultsinthecountriesinvolved.
