Overall Idea

• Historical Event• Script

Historical Event

Our animation will be based off of one of Neil

Armstrong’s many near-crash landings on the moon.

Just before landing the Apollo 11 on July 20, 1969 and

with less than 30 seconds of fuel remaining,

Armstrong was forced to override the craft’s auto-

pilot in order to avoid boulders surrounding a crater

on the moon and land safely.

Script

1. View of spacecraft landing manual opening with a voice in the distance saying “good luck”

2. Perspective inside of pod as it flies through space, with voices warning that you’re headed for a crater

3. User uses console buttons for manual override4. Pod flies and lands on the moon

Features & Cinematics

• Interaction• Sound• Lighting• Alternating Camera Angles

Page 6: Final Project Proposal: “Neil Armstrong’s Lunar Landing”

Interaction

• Button press memory game• Use of joystick for maximum user immersion &

interaction when user takes control over and lands craft

Page 7: Final Project Proposal: “Neil Armstrong’s Lunar Landing”

Sound

• Voices of ground crew• Alarms• Thump of finally landing on moon• Swooshing noise of pod in flight as

background noise, with the possibility of space-themed music to go along with it

Page 8: Final Project Proposal: “Neil Armstrong’s Lunar Landing”

Lighting

• Buttons flashing when overriding auto-pilot– These flashing lights will add to the pressure and

drama of the scenario as the user must take control of the pod

Alternating Camera Angles

• 1st person views manual instructions• 1st person inside capsule• Split screen: capsule POV & top-down during

landing• 3rd person view after landing success (backing

away, showing scope of the moon)
