Safety Around Our School Thank you so much to all those parents doing their best to park safely in correct areas in order to protect the safety of our students around our school. We do still have some safety concerns with 1/ Parking in driveways and on verges on Albert Street opposite the school. 2/ Parking facing the wrong way outside the school in Albert Street. 3/ Dropping off /picking up from the staff car park. Please do not participate in these actions as they endanger students every time.

Long Service Leave Some members of our Staff will be on Long Service Leave for differing parts of Term 4. Mrs Scholz will still be on leave returning in Week 8. Mrs McAuliffe will be on leave for the whole term. Miss Pittard will teach the Year 3 class for the term, and on Thursdays Mr Andrew Wotherspoon will teach P.E. We wish Mrs McAuliffe and her family the very best for a well deserved break and for the exciting travel they have planned. Mrs Dorrington will be on leave for the first two weeks of term, we know she will return with some interesting travel stories. Mr Mike Slee will teach the Year 4 class during that time.

Edu-Dance……. Creative Dance Exercise Program Our terrific Edu-Dance Program is on again next term, starting in Week 2 and culminating with the End of Year Concert on Thursday 8th December. Thank you to all those who have already paid, all money is due in as soon as possible.

KINDY CLASS REPORT

The Number theme continues in Kindy with us learning up to the number 8 this term. We have had fun making Speckled Frog Puppets for the song Five Little Speckled Frogs and we had even more fun getting a group of 5 together to act it out. The number 6 had us making flies & a woollen web as we explored the Eric Carle book The Very Busy Spider. We learnt that flies have six legs and are a favourite meal for Spiders!

The number 7 was very exciting as we made hats so we could dress

as a dwarf in the Folk Story Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. We were lucky enough to have a visit from Snow White herself!

We finished the term making our Busy Spiders to add to our webs. We were all careful to make sure we had eight legs on every spider. Lots of counting happening in the Kindy this term! Have a fun and safe Holidays!

PRE-PRIMARY REPORT

In Pre-Primary, we welcomed Tom from St John Ambulance to teach us the importance of learning first aid. In the course, Tom covered Looking for danger, Staying safe, Checking for response, How to call an ambulance and Recognising a Paramedic. At the end of our course, we got a Certificate of Completion and a sticker with 000 and reminder of what questions we will need to answer for the emergency operator. This was a great incursion. In Phonics, we continue to work on sounding out and reading sentences. We have also been learning long vowel sounds and their alternative spellings. The children have learnt that long vowels say their name A, E, I, O, U. In Maths, we continue to look at Patterns, 2D and 3D shapes and Interpreting Data from graphs and tables. We hope all our families enjoy their holidays and have a safe and relaxing time.

YEAR 1 CLASS REPORT

We have been learning about Shape in Maths, and have enjoyed time exploring the properties of Tangram Puzzles. We are currently completing our Tangram stained glass windows. We have been practicing Skip Counting by 2’s 5’s and 10’s and are getting better at beating the clock. We are continuing to practice Comprehension Skills and have been doing some creative Burst Writing about becoming a tissue out of recycled paper. In Science, we all made Weather Vanes and had fun using them outside as it was quite a windy day.

YEAR 2 CLASS REPORT

We have been tasting some of our garden produce. Yum! Please keep an eye on the vegetables during the holidays as most will need at least another 2 weeks. The children have done some amazing drawings from The Twits. They are on the wall. Enjoy your holidays and keep safe and busy.

YEAR 3 CLASS REPORT

Over the past two weeks we have had some really exciting and fun activities in our Maths lessons. Last Thursday, Miss Pittard took us outside to catch Pokémon that were hidden around the school. These were specially designed Pokémon which had numbers on them showing their power level. We then had to add these numbers up with our partners and see who had the strongest Pokémon team. Alexia and Annabelle had the strongest Pokémon team. We learnt a lot about Addition, Place Value and carrying numbers. Thanks Miss Pittard, you are amazing.

We also did a Chances Process lesson involving lollipops. We had to predict what colour lollipop would come out of the bag when we put our hand in. Many of us got our predictions correct. We also tallied the number of lollipops and made a graph with our information. The best part of the lesson though was eating our lollies. Yum! In Measurement and Geometry we had a great time making 3 dimensional shapes out of play dough and identifying faces, edges and vertices in the prisms and pyramids that we had created. Have a safe and happy holiday and look we forward to seeing you all next term.

YEAR 4 CLASS REPORT

This term we’ve had a busy term and everyone has worked very hard. In Maths we have been looking at measurement using grams and kilograms for weight, millilitres and litres for capacity and millimetres, centimetres and metres for length. We are also using our knowledge from decimals and fractions to help us measure, compare and write these accurately. In Geography, we are using the Ipads to research a country of our choice from Africa. We will present this to the class early next term. After a lot of research about feral cats, our latest Exposition was titled Feral Cats Should be Eradicated! We really enjoyed competing at the Interschool and look forward to a well-earned rest over the holidays. By Kaiser and David

YEAR 5/6 CLASS REPORT

We have now completed our Geography projects on comparing facts between two Asian countries. They are on display in the classroom. In Science we are continuing our studies of space and investigating different planets, constellations and comets. We have carried out lots of fraction and decimal activities in Mathematics and our Values in Sport poems, and poems about ourselves are on display in the classroom. You are welcome to come to our classroom and have a look at our work on display as we are very proud of our efforts.
