FINAL SCRIPT

Page 2: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 1My next shot is going to be of my protagonist walking down an alley way, it is going to be set in the evening time as this will

increase the fear factor. The reason I chose this location is because they are a convention of the thriller genre, so therefore my

audience will immediately be able to identify the genre. Another reason why I believe the location is suitable because it is

deserted, away from any refugee, leaving my protagonist in an incredibly vulnerable position.

Camera Angles/Movements

I am going to use point of view shots from behind my protagonist, this will allude the suspicion that she is being followed, this

reinforces her sense of defenceless and will create an enigma as the audience will want to know why she is being followed and

whom may it may be.

I am also going to use long shots from in front, this will help the audience depict who is in the frame and also where it is located

this will enable a more sinister atmosphere to be created.

Lighting

I am going to film these shots in the evening, this emphasises the level of fear I want it to be associated with, therefore I will use

street lighting in order to gain detail. This in effect will act as a top light which consequently will create an eerie feel as her identity

will be slightly misted.

Editing

I will use line cutting, this is so I can explore different camera angles though in the same scene, although this is relatively subtle, I

believe it is important when creating tension and reeling the audience in.

Sound

In this scene I want to play an audio recording of someone calling the police in panic, this will confuse the audience and keep

them on the edge of their seats from the outset. When the audio ends I am going to exaggerate this with aloud beep to show that

the call has ended and insert amplified diegetic sounds of the protagonists footsteps.

Costume, hair and makeup

Costume; My protagonist will be wearing a red dress with high heels, this is so the footsteps will be louder. The outfit is quite

provocative and is very stereotypical not only because it is revealing however the colour red has connotations of seduction yet

danger to.

Hair and makeup; My protagonist will have her hair down and her makeup will be heavy and over exaggerated, including dark

eye makeup and red lipstick to compliment the dress this will suggest that she is going somewhere.

Page 3: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 2I am going to shoot my protagonist drinking alone in a bar, this is to provide the audience with more information about her character. Firstly it will show her isolation from the world as she sits looking miserable with no one else in sight, this ma y make the audience question why? I also hope to show glimpses of my protagonists unstableness as she relentlessly downs several drinks, this could insinuate her guilty conscious, although the audience will be unaware of it at this moment in time .

Camera Angles/Movements

I am going to use leading lines through a medium shot, this will add emphasis to the alcoholic drink and ensure the audience focus on it. I am also going to use an extreme close-up of my protagonist consuming her alcoholic beverage from eye level, this will enable the audience to pick up detail of her sad facial expressions. I want to also incorporate an over the shoulder shot from behind the barman looking at my protagonist, this will give us another full frontal perspective of her.

Lighting

I am going to use low key lighting for these shots this is to add a mysterious touch and due to the fact I want to create the allusion that it is the evening, this is essential.

Editing

I intend to use overlapping editing of my protagonist drinking, this will highlight my protagonists state of soberness decline, this is to make them feel uncomfortable as she will appear to seem in danger. I also would like to use flash cutting as this scene is not absolutely essential, it is just helping me build up my characters profile, therefore I do not need to dwell on it for a long period of time.

Sound

I am going to play the ‘I spit on your grave’ them tune’ which I have previously analysed in an earlier post, this is so theaudience immediately know the genre of the trailer due to the high pitch screeches this is with the intention of making the audience feel unsettled as they anticipate that something is about to happen.

Costume, Hair and makeup

Costume; My protagonist will be wearing a short black skirt and top and a black fur coat, this is to emphasise her depressed mood whilst also showing the audience that this is not the destination she was going to in the last shot.

Hair and makeup; My protagonists eye makeup will be going down her face, this is to show that she has been crying, her lipstick will be faded and her hair will be scruffy. I want this to reflect that it is the end of the night. I am going to al so use fake scratches to show some sort of struggle which the audience will be ignorant as to how she has got them.

Page 4: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 3In this scene, I want to show my protagonist in her home environment of which is run down and decrepit. I intend to incorporate smoke into it to emphasise her lack of care for not only herself but her property to. I am going to show glimpses of her getting changed, doing her make up and looking in the mirror highlighting that she is going somewhere. I also want to display an unknown number calling her phone.

Camera Angles/Movements

I am going to show medium close-ups of my protagonist getting ready, combined with numerous close-up cut in shotsof different parts of her body, such as showing her put her high heels on. I then want to film a cutaway high angle shotof her phone ringing, this will create an enigma in the scene as we are left ignorant as to who is calling her. I believe an over the should shot of her looking in the mirror will be effective in this scene, this will not only give us an idea as to how she views herself but also mirrors are a convention of thrillers therefore it will be appropriate to include them.

Lighting

I want to include a combination of low key lighting, which is likely to create a depressing atmosphere in order to foreshadow her life but also harsh lighting especially when she is looking in the mirror. this is so her face can be highlighted in order to add depth, yet shadows will be made behind her to set a creepy tone.

Editing

I will use flash cutting here to pick up the pace of the trailer, as although there is no action happening, it will follow shortly after. I also hope to use line cutting, this is to show the same shot of her looking at herself in the mirror though from a different angle this will be effective in showing attention to the negative views she has on her looks. I also want to accelerate time in these shots to not prolong the process to much.

Sound

The ‘I spit on your grave’ theme tune will continue to play.

Costume, hair and makeup

Costume; My protagonist will be wearing a vest and pants in some shots, however will get ready to wear a short leather skirt, ripped tights, a crop top and high heel boots.

Hair and makeup; My protagonist will be hiding bruises with thick makeup and again heavy makeup.

Page 5: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 4This shot portrays my protagonist waiting on a street corner, looking agitated this will confirm her occupation to the audien ce, as it’s a very stereotypical picture we all hold of prostitutes. I am going to present a mysterious car pulling up and her getti ng into it. We see various shots of the protagonist in the car with an unknown man, the audience are deprived of seeing his identity, thi s will create suspense as it plays on the idea of the fear of the unknown. Despite this we are given subtle clues as to who the malecharacter may be. We also see shots of the car going down a country road, this is a convention of thrillers as it seems isola tedand away from any help. I am also going to incorporate a gun shot coming from the car, this is where the action kicks of and theaudience are left unaware as to who has been shot.

Camera Angles/Movements

In these shots I am going to film a birds eye view shot of my protagonist waiting for the car to pick her up, this is to emphasise the darkness and isolation of the streets, as no one will see her getting in the car. I am also going to film various long shots of the car pulling up and medium shots of her climbing in. When she's in the car I am going to film close-ups of the males eyes in the mirror of the car. I also believe point of view shots looking outside the car will be appropriate as they will hint to the audience where they are going. I'm going to use cutaways to present the audience with glimpses of the males body to make his identify unclear in order to create suspense . When the audience hear a gun shot, I will show the car from a wide shot, this is so the audience will still be ignorant as to what's happened.

Lighting

I hope to use back lighting when the car pulls up to my protagonist, this will ensure that the audience pays attention to the car, though also by hiding detail, it will appear more mysterious. In the shots of her in the car I am going to use low key lighting, this wil l be helped by the ambient light as I am going to shoot the scenes when the sun is going down. The lights of the car will create a combination o f high key and low key lighting, this is to show a contrast between the light and darkn4ess of the situation.

Editing

I am going to use flash cutting in this part of my trailer, this is because the action is beginning to pick up so I want to foreshadow this to create suspense. I also think montage editing will be visually pleasing to create an impact and show the journey in an arrangement of shots.

Sound

I am going to play diegetic music in the car, this will then get louder and transform into non diegetic music. I am going to use the song by Nancy Sinatra- Bang Bang, this is because its not only eerie however the lyrics go with my visuals. When the car stops I am goin g use a non diegetic sound of a gun, this is to allude that someone has been shot.

Costume, hair and makeup

*Same as previous shot*

I will need a fake gun in this scene

Page 6: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 5I am going to show my protagonists in front of a blank background, being abused and struggling to defend herself. These

shots will be incorporated throughout the trailer in order to create the illusion that she is the one being abused, this will seem

typical to the audience as prostitutes being assaulted and killed is not unheard of.

Camera Angles/Movements

These shots are important in my trailer so therefore I am going to use a variety of camera angles, so therefore I can place t hem into

various places in the trailer. I will use medium close-up, this is so you can see exactly what is happening, it will allow her body

language to be depicted and also the aggressors hands can be seen. I will use close-ups, so her facial expressions are emphasised,

but also so her bruises will be able to be seen clearly. extreme close-ups are also vital as I can use cut in shots of her eyes, to show

tears and her mouth to create the illusion of her screaming. I will use , high angle shot, this is so she looks vulnerable and

defenceless, this is a commonly used angle for a victim in a thriller film.

Lighting

I want to use harsh lighting, this is so shadows can be created in order to reflect the dark place in her life that I am trying to refer to.

Low key lighting is also essential as its not only a convention of thriller, though it sets a more eerie tone.

Editing

I am going to use flash cutting in this part of my trailer, this will allow me to display the brutality happen to her in a faced paced

motion. I may also use subliminal cuts, of these shots throughout the trailer, this is to reiterate her bad past in order for the audience

to empathise for her.

Sound

The song Bang Bang will continue to play, however I am going to also incorporate sound effects when the shot changes, this is to

contrast the slow eerie song, with more action packed sounds.

Costume , Hair and makeup

Costume; you will only be able to see the shoulder of my protagonist, I am going to try and suggest that she is not wearing c lothes by

putting her in a strapless top.

Hair and makeup; My protagonist will have her hair scarpe4d back, this is so her facial expressions are emphasised. She will not be

wearing any makeup, though I will use it to create scratches and bruises, this will reinforce her abuse .

Page 7: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 6 I am incorporating the woods into this scene, this is because they are an extremely frightening location as we don’t know wha t may be lurking in them. I want to show my protagonist walking through them looking rough and disturbed. This location is als o important as it is actually where the murders take place, though this will be insinuated later on in my trailer. I also want toinclude a gun to build an enigma, as the audience will be aware that death is taking/or has taken place though they will be concealed of knowing who the perpetrator is.

Camera Angles/Movements

I will use mid shots so therefore we can see her facial expressions therefore the audience will be able to see the look of disturbance on her face. I believe wide shots at eye level will also be beneficial as the audience will be able to see the eerie location, this will make the shots seem more frightening. A cut away shot is vital in this scene, because this is where the weapon will be revealed to audience to create a more dangerous feel. I think using a slanted angle will enhance this scene as it is dramatic and disorientating, which is exactly what I want these shots to be.

Lighting

I am going to use natural lighting for this scene, as because its in the woods it would be unrealistic to have bright lighting especially as its going to be filmed in a dim light. However my protagonist will be holding a torch, this can create harsh lighting though also to make the surroundings more obvious.

Editing

I am going to use line cutting, this is so I can experiment with camera angles in order to see my protagonists state from a number of perspectives. This scene will fade to black in order to scare the audience.

Sound

The song bang is still going to play in these shots, to foreshadow the visuals, as we will see her all one with flash cuts of a gun.

Costume, hair and makeup

Costume; my protagonist will be wearing, a short black dress, this will have connotations of death, her legs will be bare, th is is so her bruises will be visible. She will also be wearing knee high boots to reinforce her occupation as they are usually associated with prostitutes.

Hair and makeup; My protagonist will have her usual heavily made up makeup, although her face will have splodges of blood on it to create an enigma. Her legs will also have mud prints on them.

Page 8: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 7I am going to use the location of a bathroom for the following shots, this is because it is a very personal place therefore t he audience will feel as if they are invading her privacy which could consequently lead them to finding out secret information. I am going to repeat the action of her looking in the mirror, though looking even more decrepit, I want her to look muddy and worn out as if she as been struggling. I also want to film her washing her blood drenched hand this will insinuate someone's been killed, however I am not going to directly hint that they are her hands. And also shots of her in the bath, to foreshado w her washing away her sins.

Camera Angles/Movements

I'm going to film an over shoulder shot of my protagonist looking in the mirror, this is so we can get a full view of her which will incorporate detail. When she is the bath I will show this through a high angle close-up, this is because if I use a medium close up I may expose to much of her body and it could turn slightly provocative which is exactly what I don’t want. I will film a cut in close-up shot of her washing her hands so I can build suspense.

Lighting

I intend to use the light of a candle in the bath scene, in order to create soft lighting, this is to dissuade the audience o f calm and tranquille atmosphere. In the scenes where she is washing her hands I am going to use high key lighting, this will highlight the brightness of the tones of red.

Editing

I am considering using overlapping editing for the shot of her washing her hands, this will show a repetition in her action which could suggest to the audience that she has killed many people. I am going to use line cutting of her in the bath so I c an incorporate various shots.

Sound

The song will continue to play, however I am also going to use diegetic sounds of water running, this is to add a sense of realism.

Costume, hair and makeup

Costume; Again, you will not be able to see her costume, though I will ensure she is wearing strapless top to avoid any nudit y.

Hair and makeup; She will have her hair back and no makeup, this will show her in a more pure light and will show any bruises she has obtained.

Page 9: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 8I am going to present various shots of a males body, this is to create an enigma that maybe my protagonist isn’t the victim, she is actually aggressive. However I only want to plant a seed so I am not going to make it to obvious as it is important I don’t give away the whole narrative in my trailer.

Camera Angles/Movement

I will only use extreme close-up cut in shots, this is so the audience cant see the victims full identity as this will give away to much of the story line to the audience, I want to create tension. High angle shots will be the most effective as it will put the males in insignificant positions and deprived of any power. ,

Lighting

I am going to use top lighting for these shots, this is so some of their identity is revealed yet some is not. I also think harsh lighting would be appropriate this can foreshadow her torch shining on them.

Editing

These shots are going to conveyed to the audience through subliminal cuts, this is so they act as an enigma and are not clearly shown or the story line will become to obvious and suspense will be lost. I also want to use flash cutting, this is to add a bit more detail,

Sound

The song will continue to play, however it will get quieter, I will play non diegetic sound effects when the shot changes in order to draw the audiences attention and add more of a dramatic feel to the trailer.

Costume, hair and makeup

Costume; I am going to use items of male clothing such as big boots, this is so the body parts arent mistaken for hers.

Page 10: Final script for my thriller film

SHOT 9My protagonist will be seen in the woods again, covered in dirt and displaying strange behaviour such as screaming and clenching her fists. This will be a good closing to my trailer as the audience will be left wondering what has happened but also her inanity will be insinuated.

Camera Angles/Movements

I'm going to use Close-ups to show her screaming and clutching her hair in her hands to reiterate her derangement. I want to use an Over shoulder shot, this will block the audience out, making her appear distant from the world. I think a low angle shot will look good as it will show her power as the audience will already have suspicions of her criminal activity. I will also use a very wide shot to highlight her location again, in which is the woods, it will make her look small in comparison, and therefore could suggest she is fearless. I will end my trailer with another cut away shot of the gun to leave it on a slight cliff hanger.

Lighting

I am going to use harsh lighting in order to create shadows to emphasis the darkness and corruption of her mental state. I think under lighting will also enhance these shots, under lighting is commonly used in thriller films when concerning the villain, so therefore I will be reinforcing this.

Editing

I am going to use fast pace editing such flash cutting and montage editing this will allude to fear and action, as it’s the end of the trailer I need to make sure the audience are enticed, therefore I need to over exaggerate with the editing to do so.

Sound

The song will increase in sound and the trailer will end on the unnerving tone of a loud non diegetic sound effect of a bang this is to reflect the shot gun.

Costume, hair and makeup

Costume; My protagonist will be wearing a short skirt and strappy top.

Hair and makeup; Her makeup will be all over her face to emphasise her struggle.

THE END
