All existing structures and foliage to beremoved from site.Exterior walls are to be of straw bale, loadbearing construction.Windows on the ground floor on the southside will be angled to 90 degrees to thewinter sun, allowing for the growth of foodinside all year round.There will be a planting bed all along thesouth wall on the ground floor, this will bedeep enough to allow the growth of largefruit or vegetable bearing plants.Doors will have high R values and beproperly sealed to prevent heat loss.Windows will be shaded during summer toprevent excessive cooling loads.Deciduous trees will be planted on thesouth side of the building to provide shadeduring the summer months, coniferoustrees will be planted on the north side, aswell as the east and west to provideprotection of blowing rain, wind and snow.Site will be graded to allow water drainageto the streets.Green roof will be provided to add to thesustainability and insulation requirements.All interior floors will be heated via radiantheating, flooring material will be QuarryTile, this will also function as a thermalmass during the winter months, and willhelpcool the building in the summer months.
