China produces 22% of the worldwide cotton, of which 84 % come from the Xinjiang region. The cotton is grown and harvested by big companies like Huafu Fashion Co. and is sold to sweatshops in Bangladesh and Ma-laysia that are working, among others, for Adidas, H&M and Nike.1

Sound like the globalized economy, so what‘s that bad?

Right now, over a million (estimates vary between one and three million) Uyghur muslims are imprisoned behind walls and fences in industrial-scale concentration camps (not extermination camps) in the Xinjiang region.2

Uyghur culture gets systematically destroyed, in the concentration camps, leaked files revealed3 that people are forced to eat pork, drink alcohol and denounce their identity as Muslims. Detainees are forced to take pills, in-jections, and are subjected to sterilization procedures, medical experiments and organ harvesting.

The machinery of the Chinese state, actively aided by corporations such as Adidas and passively aided by the indifference of the rest of the world, is being used to silently strip the Uyghurs of their human rights. China is committing crimes against humanity.

As consumers with this knowledge, we have a duty to act against these human rights violations. And we have the power to achieve something. Write a letter or call companies like Adidas. These flyers are distributed in stores all over Europe, if enough people act we can take the first step against Chinese crimes against humanity.
