Who We Are
Cornwall Mobility is a Charitable Company based on the Treliske Royal Cornwall Hospital campus in Truro.
We aim to provide solutions, services, support and reassurance to people of all ages in the South West who face independence and mobility challenges.
Our professional team is fully qualified and accredited in each of our specialist areas of expertise. We are members of BHTA, and are ISO9001 registered.
WorkshopsStaffed by fully trained and experienced technicians, we can service and repair all types of mobility and independent living equipment. We are accredited by Motability to fit, service and repair adaptations to vehicles as well as service and repair Motability leased wheelchairs and scooters.
Independent Living Our team of trained assessors are experienced in assessing the needs of people of all ages for equipment that will help support their independence, both inside and outside the home. Our assessors are members of the BHTA Health and Technology Society.
DrivingOur driving assessors are Approved Driving Instructors who are experienced in assessing and teaching people with a disability to learn to drive or return to driving following an accident or illness. We are a member of Driving Mobility (Forum of Mobility Centres) and are accredited by the DVLA and Motability to carry out assessments.

We provide solutions to problems relating to mobility for people of all ages with all kinds of mobility challenges.
AdultsWe can offer advice and solutions for those with mobility problems and people who need help in the home or while they are out and about, making their day-to-day activities easier. Our range of equipment includes wheelchairs, mobility scooters, walkers, walking sticks, riser recline chairs, bespoke specialist seating as well as equipment for the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom.
Who We Help
ChildrenWe can advise and assess for a range of equipment for children including wheelchairs, car seats and accessories, walkers, specialist seating and beds.
DriversWe can offer advice and solutions for people with a disability who want to learn to drive, or to those who want to return to driving after an illness or accident. We have a range of vehicles fitted with adaptations for driving which can be tried out during our assessments. We can also advise drivers on how they can drive safer for longer, or advise on retention of independence through other means where appropriate.
Sudden IllnessOur products and services can help ensure clients’ comfort when they become affected by
a medical condition or as a part of a care package.
CarersWe can offer advice and solutions for carers including lifting and hoisting equipment for use in the home and in vehicles as well as access solutions for passengers in vehicles. We can provide training in manual handling and the safe use of equipment including wheelchair accessible vehicle restraint systems.
Health ProfessionalsWe support all health professionals, including Doctors, District Nurses, Occupational and Physiotherapists, as well as social and care workers in providing information about our services which can help maintain independence and enhance mobility.
At HomeIf you have a problem with mobility in your home, we can assess your needs and offer solutions. If you are unable to visit us at Cornwall Mobility we can arrange to see you at home.
How We Help
KitchenOur range of products can help people who have difficulty using kitchen equipment, such as can openers, jar openers, easy-grip cutlery and crockery and long- handled pet feeders.
Living RoomWe can help you choose your specialist seating, riser recline chairs, and armchairs and accessories as well as equipment for leisure activities such as reading, playing cards and other hobbies. We also have a range of over-tables for use with recliner chairs and beds.
BedroomWe have a range of equipment to help with dressing and undressing. We can advise, assess and supply suitable beds; from standard profiling divans to high-low specialist beds with all accessories and furniture.
BathroomWe can help you find a solution with equipment for the bathroom to help with washing, bathing, using the toilet and getting around the bathroom safely.
Out and About
Getting around, indoors or outside, can be made easier with the broad range of products we offer people of all ages to try out. If you can’t get to Cornwall Mobility we can arrange a home visit to help determine what best suits your needs.
Wheelchairs and scootersWe have a range of wheelchairs and accessories available from manual ‘self-propelled’ and ‘attendant-propelled’, to powered (electric) chairs which are operated by the user or carer via a joystick pad. We have a full range of mobility scooters available, which you can try out. We will assess your needs relating to where you want to use it, how you will store it at home and ensure that you can use it safely and have the best solution for your needs.
WalkersThree wheeled, four wheeled and specialist walkers are available which can be used indoors or outdoors, as well as accessories for your walker such as bags and walking stick holders.
AccessibilityWe can advise on a range of access solutions including ramps and hoists which make getting into and out of vehicles easier for drivers and passengers, as well as the stowage of their mobility equipment.
Maintenance and RepairOur workshop offers a full service and repair package for scooters, wheelchairs and many other types of mobility and daily living equipment.
If you are new to driving, need your car adapting in order to continue driving or wish to try a new form of transport such as a mobility scooter, we can help you. We can also advise older drivers on how to drive safer for longer, and offer solutions for passengers who have difficulty getting into and out of vehicles.
Our qualified driving assessors are here to support you in getting mobile and back on the road.
On The Road
Learning to DriveIf you would like to learn to drive, our driving assessors will provide you with an assessment, and tuition in the theory and practical elements required for the driving test. We provide tuition in manual or automatic cars with adapted controls if required, for learners as well as refresher training for qualified drivers.
TrainingWe offer the following training courses for individuals, care staff and organisations:
• Manual Handling training
• Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MiDAS)
• Passenger Assistant Training Scheme (PATS)
• Mobility Scooter Safety Awareness Sessions
• Drive Safer for Longer Presentations and On-Road Driving Sessions
Adapting Your VehicleOur team of vehicle adaptation technicians, in conjunction with our driving assessors, will advise you on the adaptations you will need for driving, and fit them for you in our workshop. If you are a passenger who has difficulty getting into or out of a car, or have a wheelchair or scooter which you have difficulty loading or unloading, we can also advise you on suitable hoisting equipment.
