Findhorn Foundation July 14-21 2018 Special Guest: Shakeh Major Tchilingirian teaching Armenian dances The Festival celebrates the transformative and healing power of Sacred Circle Dance. Shakeh Tchilingirian has a huge repertoire of Armenian folk and lyrical dances and teaches with great awareness of the sacred dimension of the dances, as well as historical aspects and their capacity for personal transformation. She will offer a balance of folk and lyrical dances. Other teachers include Laura Shannon, teaching Greek and Roma dances, with a focus on the meditative power, sacred symbols and healing energy these dances contain. Kostantis Kourmadias and Nikolas Angelopoulos will accompany Laura’s classes with exquisite and sensitive live music. Peter Vallance will teach a mixture of choreographed and traditional dances which lead dancers on a journey of transformation and renewal. Barbara Swetina will share dances from different spiritual traditions which use mantras, sacred harmony chants and simple movements to honour the sacred in all life.The Festival Choir and Orchestra provide music for the final night’s community dance and celebration. Choir and Orchestra leaders will be confirmed in due course. Dancing to live music is an essential part of the Festival experience. Evenings will feature the Indian Bhajan band with Peter Vallance teaching dances from India; traditional Greek and Balkan dances with Laura, Kostantis and Nikolas; a Scottish Ceilidh with Peter, Rory and Gerry; an evening of Sacred Dance and Song with Barbara Swetina, and Armenian dance with Shakeh.
