Finding and Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose for Life.

S.H.A.P.E. (Spiritual gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experi-

ence)

In February will continue our church-wide small group study and ser-mon series based on Erik Rees book S.H.A.P.E.—Finding and Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose for Life.

It’s not too late to plug into a group or pick up a book and ready it on your own. Along with Pastor Won’s Sermon Series on S.H.A.P.E., we have 3 small groups opportunities:

• Chris Keltner will lead a class from 10:30-11:45 on Sunday mornings in the Family Life Center

• Rev. Lynne Hundley will lead one on Sunday nights from 6-8:00 in Rm. 7 (main building)

• Bob & Linda Patton will lead one on Wednesdays at Noon in the FLC (bring a bag lunch if you wish).

If you would be willing to lead a small group, please contact Pastor Won. ([email protected])

The ultimate goal is to have the majority of our congregation fill out the online assessment of spiritual gifts that is part of this study. This will help individuals find where their heart is leading them to volun-teer among the many opportunities Ebenezer has and it helps our Nominations Team in their ongoing planning. (Note: 1) Even if you don’t participate in a small group, you are still encouraged to take the online spiritual gifts assessment. 2) Individuals may also sign up to purchase a book to read on their own)

WE CARE

When does anyone have the time (you ask) to crochet, knit or sew items? Just a stitch here or row there and eventually our work is complete. You will find the prayer shawls (and lap blankets, too!) in both buildings. Where you ask? Displayed on blanket racks near the front doors. Now it is your turn. Take and share a shawl with someone who needs a gentle touch of warmth and love. We Care meets again on 02/11/20 at 10:00am in the FLC. Come join the fun. If you crochet, knit or sew, please think about spending time with us!

Remember, our hands serve Christ, Janie Murrell

CHARITABLE GIVING If you are over the age of 70.5 and are required to take your Required Minimum Distribution from an applicable IRA, 401(k), or other account, there is a great opportunity to support EUMC with additional potential tax benefits. Any required minimum distribution made directly to a chari-table organization, like EUMC, will be excluded from your adjusted gross income. With new higher standard deduction amounts, this method of giving will allow you to get the tax benefit of charitable giving, without the risk of not itemizing charitable gifts due to the higher standard deduction amount. Also, lower adjusted gross income can have more favorable tax sav-ings when compared to higher itemized deductions.
