Finding God
A JourneyBy
Broaddus Shamblin
I tried to exist with God in eternity,
But I could not live long enough to find him.
I tried to run with God this millennium,
But my legs grew too weary to walk with him.
I tried to sense God in this century,
But my skin was too numb to feel
Him.
I tried to embrace God in this
century,
But my arms were too
reach around Him.
I tried to listen for God in this year,
But my ears were too deaf to hear Him.
I tried to hold God this month,
But my hands were too frozen to touch
Him.
I tried to converse with God this week,
But my mouth was too quiet to speak
with Him.
I tried to read the Word of God this
day,
But my mind was too slow
to understand Him.
I tried to contact God in this hour,
But my body was too short to reach Him.
I tried
to drink the
shed blood
of God this
minute,
But my tongue could not
taste his
bitter wine.
I tried to eat the broken body of God this second,
But my throat could not swallow unleavened bread.
I tried to breathe with God in this
moment,
And thereI found
His Spirit.
