8 Chateau Palmer Margaux 1979.

10 bottles. £800-1000

'Palmer's 1979 has turned out to be one of the better wines of the vintage, but it is not as

profound as I had predicted. The wine has evolved slowly and is just now approaching full

maturity. The colour remains deep ruby with some lightening at the edge. The moderately

intense bouquet of black fruits, earth, cedar, and herbs is followed by a wine with excellent

richness, sweet tannin for the vintage, crisp acidity, and a medium- bodied, stylish

personality. The wine still has tannin in the finish, but the mid-palate and finish are silky

and expansive.' - Robert Parker.

9 Chateau Beychevelle Saint- Julien 1979.

10 bottles. £300-350

‘A very enjoyable wine. Classic St. Julian. Fairly friendly and fruit forward with herbs and

earthiness. A fair amount of fine, resolved tannins remain, plenty of acid, which keeps it light,

fresh and vibrant.’

10 Chateau Ducru-Beaucaillou 1979.

11 bottles. £500-600

‘Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou is one of the leading estates of St Julien, classified as a 2eme

straightforward, slightly diluted, curranty fruit and herbal smells.”

Parker rating 82/100. (Very Good.)’
