PRESIDENT’S
PERSPECTIVE
PRESIDENT’S PERSPECTIVE
At our March meeting, we
had our election of officers
and board members. Our new
president is also one of our
past presidents: Kelly Buck.
Our vice president is Paulette
LeFever, secretary is Jay
Clark, and our treasurer is
Bob Sloan. Thanks to all of
you for stepping up to run our club! To all our
members, please consider doing likewise next
year, particularly if you are one of our new
members. There’s no better way to get to know
your club and participate in all our activities.
This year, we ended with 223 members; the
more, the merrier!
36 happy travelers came back from Big Sky,
Montana on March 18. We had a wonderful trip
and thanks go to Linda and Mike Tersegno for
running it! We had sunny days and hard pack
skiing. We missed the big storm here and
weren’t sorry about that! Pictures will be on the
website soon.
As noted in my last letter, the club banquet is at
Springside on April 8 at 6:00pm. Please join us
for a great celebration.

IDEAS FOR OUR 2018 TRIP! 2018 big trip leader Kelly Buck has just returned from the annual Mountain Travel
Symposium (MTS) in Banff. She collected lots of information and met with ski industry
leaders, gathering info for our next big trip. Among the strong possibilities for 2018 are
Park City, Utah; Cortina, Italy with a two-night add-on in Venice; and Sierra Nevada, Spain
with lodging in the city of Granada and overnights at the end on the Mediterranean Sea. Stay tuned for more
details and the final decision later this spring! What is YOUR top choice?? Let Kelly know! Wherever we go, it
will certainly be another trip to remember!

SKIING THE SKY!
Big Sky, Montana Trip ~ March 11 – 18, 2017

Big Sky Trip Re-Cap
36 members plus 2 children and a dog traveled from various locations to Big Sky Resort, located in southern
Montana, an hour north of Yellowstone National Park. Lone Peak was stunning in the sunshine and the
Huntley Lodge was a very convenient, comfortable slope-side location. The breakfast buffet was wonderful
including the views of the trails and mountain. The Lodge was situated in the mountain village with easy
walking distance to the lifts, several restaurants, bars and some shopping. The Skyline shuttle bus service
provided transportation to the town center at the base of the mountain for more restaurants and shopping.
Several members thoroughly enjoyed a full day snow coach tour of Yellowstone. There were mostly sunny
days with just a little precipitation on 2 days, but we could have benefited from fresh snow to round out a
perfect ski week. Many experienced the scenic tram ride to the top of Lone Peak while a few skied down the
Liberty Bowl from the summit. And fortunately, there were no injuries.
Look for next year’s trip information in a month or two!!
