Student summit on anti-bullying Finley Public School has the opportunity to apply to attend a Student summit on anti-bullying. Twelve schools will be chosen to attend from across the state. An expression of interest form has been given to all year 5 students. If FPS is selected to attend, four students and a teacher will travel to Sydney to develop a project to address student bullying behaviour. The project will then be implemented at school in 2020. I would encourage all Year 5 students to apply for this exciting opportunity! High School Transition Finley High School will be holding two days for our Year 6 students to attend in preparation for their transition to High School. There will be a Taster Day, to be held on Thursday 14th November, and an Orientation Day on Tuesday 3rd December. Students will attend FHS for the whole day on both occasions. There will also be a Parent Transition Evening on Wednesday 6th November from 6-7pm. This will be an opportunity for parents to find out more about FHS and ask any questions.

High School Enrolment forms We have had a request from Finley High School for any students that have not yet submitted their enolment forms for Year 7 in 2020 to please do so as soon as possible. The high school needs these forms to assist them with planning for the 2020 school year.

Presentation Day Finley Public School’s Annual Presentation Day will be held on Thursday 12th December at the Finley High School Hall. The ceremony will begin at 10am. This is a formal occasion and a chance for us to reflect on the year of learning and celebrate the successes of our students. Semester Two reports will be handed out at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Assembly this Friday Our first assembly for Term 4 will be held this Friday, 25th October at 12.30pm. It can be difficult to find a time that suits all parents and carers to attend, but we hope that you can join us to celebrate our successes! For the remainder of 2019, our regular Assembly time will be 12.30pm. The dates for assembly this term will be: Friday 25th October, Friday 8th November, Friday 22nd November and Friday 6th December.

Bully Zero Foundation Visit All students across K-6 will attend workshops run by the Bully Zero Foundation on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th November. The workshops will focus on Cyber Safety and Bullying prevention. The Foundation has been featured on all major TV stations and newspapers. We will be hosting a Parent workshop from 6.30pm - 8pm on Monday 11th November. I would encourage all parents and carers to attend the session. A light supper, as well as tea & coffee will be provided. If you able to attend, please RSVP to the school office for catering purposes. A formal invitation will be sent home to all families.

Laptop Bags We have a number of laptop bags for sale for $2. All bags are brand new and would fit a medium to large laptop in them. Please call into the front office if you would like to purchase a bag or see if they are suitable.

Excess Furniture The school has the following excess furniture available for sale at $10 each. 2 x bookshelfs, 2x tote tray shelves and 1 x 2 drawer filing cabinet. The Portsea Camp’s mission is to run and provide a venue

for camps for rurally isolated, disadvantaged and special needs

children who ‘need a break’. Week-long camps are run by the

camp for 9-12 year olds during January. These camps are

exceptional events, with up to 280 children at each. 60 to 70

volunteers attend each camp to support the camp’s

permanent staff. The range of activities has to be seen to be

believed, the recreation program being second to none,

pastoral care ensures all children – regardless of life

experience, disability or disadvantage are fully supported and

nurses attend every camp to administer prescribed

medication. Transport will be organised from Berrigan.

The total cost of the camp is $350

All applications are due by 15 November 2019. Places are

limited with only 20 available for Berrigan Shire, so get in

quick. There are also opportunities for volunteer Camp

Leaders (over 18) and Junior Camp Leaders (16-17 years) to

attend the camp.

Applications forms are available at the school office.

For further information please contact Sharon Stevens at the

Berrigan Shire Council on 03 5885 2092.
