Village LocationThe Finnish Language Village is culturally and architecturally authentic, surrounded by the North Woods on Turtle River Lake near Bemidji, Minn.
Every day is like a new adventure abroad
Participants become "villagers" and live in the language and culture from the moment they wake up to the close of the day.

Greetings!At Salolampi you'll discover that Finnish is fun! From the
moment you get your Finnish "passport" and select your
Finnish name, you'll enjoy every minute of
your Salolampi experience. Our goal is to
provide an environment in which you
find the courage and confidence
to explore Finnish language and
culture. You will use new words,
eat new foods, sing new songs,
play new games, make new
friends, and receive tons of care
and attention from knowledgeable
staff while learning Finnish at
Salolampi. It will be an experience you'll
remember for a lifetime.

Why Learn Finnish?Finnish is one of the
official languages of
the European Union,
and is spoken by more
than six million people
worldwide. There are
even significant populations of Finnish speakers in Florida,
Ontario, Michigan, and Minnesota.
Life at SalolampiAt Salolampi, you'll learn words, phrases, and the history and traditions of Finnish speaking people as you immerse yourself in a fun, culturally-authentic learning environment. Our counselors use gestures, repetition, songs, and games to make sure you know what to do from the moment you arrive.

Camp Activities Can Include:
Fantastic Finnish Food
Salolampi meals are served family style and feature typical Finnish cuisine that includes fish, different types of meat, berries, and vegetables. Everyone loves the pannukakku, a Finnish oven pancake, and Karjalan piirakat, Karelian pastries.
Special Programs
No matter the month, come celebrate
Juhannus (midsummer), Joulu (Christmas)
or a traditional wedding. Come for a
family program, day camp, summer camp,
or high school credit program!
