Schedule an evening for looking at the stars. Before going outside, it may be helpful to buy a star chart or downloading a stargazing app! Choose a spot outside in your yard, neighborhood or local park to look at the stars. Read Genesis 1:14-19. Examine how the sky changes each hour, then discuss with your children how big and wonderful God is for creating all that you see, specifically the stars and moon.

One night after dinner, instead of watching tv on the couch or each person doing their own thing...make it a fort night! Grab some blankets and set up the fort in the middle of your living room. Grab some cards or games, watch a movie or use your imagination to use this epic fort with your family for the rest of the evening.

FORT NIGHTAGE: ELEMENTARYCATEGORY: FUN

One night after dinner, gather everyone around the table and bust out a family-friendly games (we recommend King of Tokyo, Sushi Go!, Fuse!, Ticket to Ride or even Exploding Kittens). One of the benefits of playing board games with your family is the opportunity to talk to them about authority and attitudes. Will your son and/or daughter get frustrated with the rules or will they understand them and why the rules are there? Notice how will your kids handle defeat and how they handle victory. As the parent, have fun with the board games but also keep an eye out for these things to discuss later.

One night of the week, plan to get together to play board games with your family and another family from the church or community. For this night, we recommend Codenames, Scattergories, Wits & Wagers (Party Edition) or Dixit. When it comes to forming teams, you have the option of doing kids vs adults, boys vs girls, or even family vs family. Have fun with this one!

FAMILIES GAME NIGHTAGE: MIDDLE SCHOOL & MULTIPLE FAMILIESCATEGORY: FUN

How your student handles and reacts to people with dierent opinions and backgrounds is absolutely crucial. The world says so many things about how to deal with those people, but the Bible instruct us clearly. As a family, read: 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, Romans 12:9-21 and 1 John 4:7-21. Discuss the importance of treating others with love versus treating others with hate and fear, which is one of the major themes from the movie Wonder Woman. Watch the film and then spend some time discussing the character of Wonder Woman, her view of the world and her burden for doing what is right.

Set up an appointment to take the family to serve at Give Kids the World together. Before heading out, spend some time reading and reflecting on Philippians 2: 1-11. Examine and discuss as a family how Christ was humbled and came to earth to serve others.

Many of our central Florida parks have “Movie at the Park” nights for families where they show family-friendly films for little to no cost. Find one that works for your family! Be sure to bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs with plenty of snacks and make it a night out of it for the whole family.

Choose an exotic cuisine that your children haven't tried - such as Thai or Portuguese. Find that country on a map or globe, and read a short article on the internet or encyclopedia about that country's culture. Plan to have lunch or dinner at a restaurant that serves food from that country. Throughout the week, challenge one another to pray for the people who live in that country, especially if there are any believers of that country who might be facing persecution.

You know those cooking videos that everyone shares on social media...it’s time to go for it and actually use them! Invite a family from the church or community over to cook together, using these videos to make a full meal (appetizer, entree and dessert) for everyone. Each family can split up duties (maybe one family handles each course and the kids make dessert). Everyone needs to pitch in to do the research to find the right videos and to buy the ingredients.

As a family, read the words of Paul in Romans 12:1-2 and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Paul speaks about honoring God with our bodies, and one of the ways we can do that is by taking care of our bodies and overall health. Schedule a time for you and your family to do a family workout once a week. It could be going for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner or going to a local gym/YMCA and getting a family membership. Want a REAL challenge? Try this 3 times per week! (Remember, this is more about getting healthy, feeling good and honoring God with your body than looking hot for beach season.)

FAMILY WORKOUTAGE: ALL AGESCATEGORY: BIBLE

The church is not a building, the church is the people in it! Scripture tell us about the importance of serving and everyone pitching in with their talents to do something. As a family, sign up to serve on one of the teams at church. Serving together as a family will bring your family closer and also help everyone in the family have and maintain a healthy mindset.

(One simple suggestion would be to check to see if your campus needs help with packing or distributing Kids’ Packs!)
