I you extinguish a match, its temperature will be around 470C / 800F. This is about the same temperature that is neededto ignite whirling wood dust, which exists in or example a lter. Layers o wood dust, which exist in a pellet silo, can igniteat even lower temperatures (~260C / 500F). Firefy detects sparks and hot particles down to 250C / 480F.

Conventional spark detection systems detect light from a spark, i.e. temperatures from about 700C / 1290F and up.

Many re problems in the pellet industry are caused by riction. The riction itsel does not generate sparks, but causes hotsuraces and heated material. When the material reaches its lowest ignition temperature, it can cause ignition in the process.

Research* clearly shows that (black) hot particles are more common as a source o ignition within the process industry thanrst thought. Thereore Firefy has developed a unique patented technology based on Inrared (IR)radiation detection, which makes it possible to detect and eliminate both sparks and hot particles

with temperatures down to 250C / 480F.

Conventional spark detection systems detect daylight, which dramatically increases the risk of falsealarms.

The pellet industry handles large amounts o material; rom hundreds o kilos up to several tons per hour. High fowso compact material demand a powerul extinguishing which is able to penetrate large production fows. Firefy providespowerul extinguishing using ull-cone water spray.

Conventional systems use extinguishing with small water droplets. The water is only divided in the periphery (hollow-conenozzles).
