Upon the customer's request and following a specific agreement, Dixell S.r.l. may be present during the start-up of the final machine/application, as a consultant; however, under no circumstances can the company be held responsible for the correct operation of the final equipment/system.

Since Dixell products form part of a very high level of technology, a

qualification/configuration/programming/commissioning stage is required to use them as best as possible. Otherwise, these products may malfunction and Dixell cannot be held responsible. The product must not be used in any way that differs from that stipulated in the documentation.

The device must never be hand-held while being used.


Introduction Dixell, always focused in providing systems coherent with market’s requirements, releases firmware update rel.2.1 to improve performances, increase stability of previous releases and introduce a new interface. Configurations of previous 1.6 and 2.0 versions are compatible and can be imported in this new firmware release. You can update XWEB300D/XWEB500D/XWEB500 to version 2.1 from previous releases.

Hardware Upgrading from version 2.0 is allowed with XW5 file which can also be installed from remote. Upgrading from version 1.6 instead is only possible with an USB key for local execution. To check your version login into your xweb and go to InformationAbout

software release 2.0


Preparation Execution of the entire procedure requires from 20 minutes to 2 hours. Time may vary according to the amount of data stored into your xweb you are going to upgrade. To minimize the time requierd (20mins) you have to delete its historical data. In any case we reccomend to export data onto Excel and/or print datalogs.

How to export in Excel file format 1. From working XWEB (turned on and operating in conditions of normal use), log-in with an account with

sufficient rights to access the operations here that follow 2. From the main menu select "Export Data Main". This will open the "View Data Log"; 3. Select "Excel exporting" and select (eg "All typologies"); 4. Enter the time range of data you want to export (eg: "1 week"); 5. Select the variables whose data you want to export (eg, all analog variables and alarm, for all devices); 6. Enter the minimum interval of sampling (eg "15 minutes"); 7. Press the button "Export". 8. Click on "View" or "Download" to save the exported data on your file system.

How to delete history

(only for firmware update in 20 minutes) 1. From working XWEB (turned on and operating conditions of normal use), log in with an account has

sufficient rights to access the operations here that follow; 2. From main menu select "Data Graphs". This will open the "View Data Log"; 3. the Actions menu, select "Cancel all data". Confirm by pressing the OK button;


Upgrade with XW5 (only for 2.0)

--- WARNING --- : please check your XWEB to be version 2.0 accessing InformationAbout menu. Upgrade procedure with XW5 file shall not be executed on previous versions. 1. Check your version

2. Login Dixell website section Support. Download the upgrade package. Unzip if necessary: you need a

XW5 file.

3. With your web-browser, login XWEB and go to ‘InformationUpdate’ menu. Provide the XW5 file.


4. Once file has been selected wait until the execution of the upgrade procedure ends. Few minutes are required.

5. Restart XWEB.

6. From your PC access to XWEB. You may need to clean your web-browser and Java caches. Please refer

to their instructions to execute these operations. Once you can access the XWEB startpage your upgrade procedure is fully executed with success.

7. Accessing ‘InformationInformation’ you can notice the new version just installed


Upgrade with local USB (only for 1.6)

How to prepare the USB key 1. Format your USB key

2. Login into Dixell website. Section ‘Support’. Then download the patch.


3. UNZIP the file just downloaded into USB main folder

--- ATTENTION --- : FILE PASSWORD IS ‘DIXELL’ (without apex). 4. Check you still have at least 1GB free in your USB key


Execution of upgrade with USB key --- ATTENTION --- : During the procedure, refer to the display text that will indicate the

status and operations to do. The state of XWEB500D XWEB300D systems is shown with LEDs. In the case it is operating normally it is regularly flashing. In case of error LEDs are all on (LEDs: Alarm; Rec Power, Status, System).

--- ATTENTION --- : UPDATE IF NECESSARY. THE PROCEDURE THAT FOLLOWS MAY BE DIFFICULT TO COMPLETE FOR MOST USERS AND MAY TAKE SEVERAL TIME.

--- ATTENTION --- : THE UPDATE PROCEDURE IS COMPATIBLE ONLY WITH XWEB WITH ‚SYSTEM VERSION‘ BETWEEN 1.3 AND 1.6.

System version compatibility list : 1.2 cannot be updated to 2.0. Latest installable version is 1.6. 1.3 can be updated to 2.0 updating to 1.6 as first step. 1.4 can be updated to 2.0 updating to 1.6 as first step. 1.5 can be updated to 2.0. 1.6 can be updated to 2.0.

--- ATTENTION --- : ON OTHER VERSIONS, BOTH PREVIOUS AND NEWER, THE UPDATE CANNOT BE NOT INSTALLED 1. From working XWEB (turned on and operating conditions of normal use), insert the USB flash drive to

start the update. 2. Wait up to 10 seconds. On the display it will show

indicating the start of the update procedure. In the case of XWEB300D/XWEB500D, LEDs are synchronous flashing, at a rate of 200ms.


3. If a mistake not to take power for the first 15 seconds. Error reported to display is:

4. On XWEB300D and XWEB500D, all the LEDs are blocked to ON (Alarm, Rec, Power, Status, System).

a. If the error message only lasts 10 seconds, remove and re-insert the USB key and repeat from step 1. If after several attempts the update operation continues to fail, call for service without taking power! b. If the error message persists longer, remove and restore power, leaving the USB stick inserted. At the next restart the procedure will attempt the recovery procedure. If after several attempts the procedure continues to fail, call for service.

If error it is important to provide to technical assistance the USB stick used for the update that will contain important information to understand the nature of the problem.

or with the Power and System LEDs that remain lit (XWEB300D/XWEB500D). Remove the USB stick, remove and restore power..

You need to re-synchronize clock, when finished! During the procedure there will be one or more automatic restarts of the system.

Information stored into USB key after the procedure has been executed Inside the key will be stored update log in folders named with the number of MAC address. It 'possible that the key goes (or can already be) in read-only, in which case you cannot run or continue the update process.


What to do in case of error In unknown conditions or if you receive an error message do not to power off for 15 seconds. Error condition is reported on XWEB500 with this message on display:


Update Error! Repeat the Procedure

On XWEB300D and XWEB500D, all the LEDs remain blocked (Alarm, Rec, Power, Status, System are on) If the error message only lasts 10 seconds, remove and re-insert the USB key and repeat from step 1. If after several attempts the update operation continues to fail, call for service without powering off! The most common case is that the update procedure continues/start again.

If the error message persists longer, remove and restore power, leaving the USB stick inserted. At the next restart the procedure will attempt the recovery procedure. If after several attempts the procedure continues to fail, call for c-service.

In case of error it is important to provide to technical assistance the USB stick used for the update that will contain important information to understand the nature of the problem. It 'very important not to lose the data in the USB stick. Do not try to upgrade a corrupter XWEB with a key different from when you tried to update earlier.

After firmware has been updated, you always need to re-syncronize xweb’s clock !

--- ATTENTION --- : Dixell’s Customer-Service always needs the USB key with which you tried to upgrade ! Do not corrupt or use the same key multiple times.
