First 15 minutes of a similar film

In the opening titles of ‘Sixth Sense’ eerie music is being played in the background. This is used to make the audience shiver and feel cold as the film is scary and to show the genre is along the linesof a horror/physiological thriller. The opening titles also drag on for three minutes to build up tension plus it makes the audience wonder what is going on and what is about to happen. One of the first scenes of ‘Sixth Sense’

is 2 characters, Dr. Malcolm and Lynn Sear and as Malcolm has just become a doctor they’re having a drink. It is an establishing shot of room in a house. The two characters are looking at a frame that is opposite the resting on another chair. It is about Dr. Malcolm's studies in to psychology.

This is the first time in the opening scenes that makes the audience on edge. This makes the audience wonder ‘what has happened?’ ‘who’s done this?’. After this we see a flicker goacross the screen, this really creates a sense of confusion and is a real hint to what is to feature later on in the film. The use of a shadow as a ghostly figure leads into the next scene which is clever.

In the middle of the opening scene we see this man wearing nothing but his underwear and we assume that he is the one who has broken the window. He then starts talking to Dr. Malcolm and says that he wants what Dr. Malcolm offered him and then he realises who the man is, and old patient of his when he was doing his research.

The it goes to this city where Dr. Malcolm is sitting on a bench and a boy walks out, he chases the boy down the street to a church. The audience are wondering who the boy is and what significance the boy has to Dr. Malcolm.

Around 14 minutes in we meet a new character called Cole, we see him run into a church and then Dr. Malcolm follows him. Then Dr. Malcolm begins to talk to Cole and while they having a convocation Cole is playing with action figures but not as you would expect a little kid to, he talks to one of his action men in Latin showing that he is an intelligent boy. Also he is playing in a church and the audience might find this rather unnatural and abnormal.
