You’ll also see the words “#Serveand- Share.” It’s a reminder that we serve and share Christ in a public way in a new day. We live in a community in which many need to see some evidence of the love of God. How will we serve them? “Serve and Share.” It could mean almost anything. Add a hashtag, (#Serveand-Share) and it becomes a way of being connected to a social media conversa-tion on Twitter. Change it to “Christ We Serve, Christ We Share” and it sounds like something a church might do.

When you come to worship on Sunday, September 9th you’ll be greeted by the words “Serve and Share.” It’s the short-hand, the tagline, for a new mission as we continue to become the church we want to be. To be sure, it is “Christ We Serve, Christ We Share.” The anchor of this con-gregation has been a commitment to serve and share Jesus Christ for over two hun-dred years. Surely God has blessed this commitment and it remains at the very center of who we are.

You’ll also see the words “#Serveand-Share.” It’s a reminder that we serve and share Christ in a public way in a new day. We live in a community in which many need to see some evidence of the love of God. How will we serve them? We are surrounded by neighbors who know little about the way of Jesus Christ that is the foundation of this church. How will we share it with them? The # reminds us how critical it is that we are bold and creative in finding new ways to share an old story.

At worship this Sunday you’ll be intro-duced to a new statement of mission for our congregation. I hope you will come and be inspired. More importantly I hope you will come and become part of the con-versation of what it means for us to “serve and share” at First Presbyterian Church today.
