This coming year will be something very special. I believe that the Lord is going to work in a great way during 2018. By rec-ommendation of the deacons we will be designating 2018 as the Year of the Bible. Let’s talk a little about what that means. The first thing it means is I want to encourage you to be in-volved in our morning Bible study event. We have great Sun-day School classes for every age and person. You can enjoy a lite breakfast and then reap the benefits of a great Sunday

School experience. Parents need to get their kids in Sunday School. Kids can have an age appropriate lesson designed and taught just for them. I am also going to be encouraging everyone to BRING YOUR BIBLE TO CHURCH. I know the Scriptures are on the screen. I know that many have the Bible on their phone or tablets. I use electronic Bibles when I travel too! But I have been thinking about this for some time now and have come to the deep conviction that an opened REAL Bible is better than an electronic one. You might be thinking I am a technological dinosaur. You might be right. But I am really considering what is going to be the best for you. We write in the margins of our Bibles. We underline and highlight meaningful verses. Your personal Bible becomes in many ways a spiritual companion. I actually have some emotional attachments to a couple of my Bibles. I have met with the Lord in their pages. And whether it is an un-derlining or a word in the margin, there are many moments of spiritual discovery and affirmation found in an open Bible. It only makes sense that we emphasize reading the Bible during the Year of the Bible. Develop a Bible study plan. You might want to read though the entire Bible. I don’t care if you finish in a year or not, just finish. You might want to use a daily devotional book. Whatever you decide, let’s read our Bibles this year. And finally, we are going to take an in-depth look at the Old Testament book of Exodus. We will trace the Life of Moses and the deliverance of the people of God. We will share some of the most amazing acts of God recorded in Scripture. I am very excited about this study. May I suggest you read through Exodus as we prepare for the Year of the Bible. Blessings, Dennis
