1.3 Classification: Industrial Training course

PART A: Course Introduction

1.4 Pre-requisite

To qualify for industrial training, students must be in the final yearand fulfill the followings:

• Has completed at least 80 credit hours (degree) / 70 credit hours(diploma);

• Passed all the courses taken;• CGPA should more than 2.00 (Good standing)• BOA – After taken and pass Intermediate FA 2, Audit 1, and Tax 1

courses.*

Special case students:

For example: A student intends to go for industrial training inAugust 2019 semester. However he/she still have three courses left.Hence, this student is required to write a letter to get approval fromDeputy Dean of Academic, FBA.

1.5 Course Objectives

1. To provide opportunity for students to gain access to information onthe current needs and requirements of industry.

2. To expose students to the latest technology and management utilizedby industry.

3. To enable students to gain experience and exposure to the reality ofworking environment in organizations.

4. To provide opportunity for students to be involved as workers’ inorganizations.

5. To develop students with the necessary technical and professionalskills including communication, management and entrepreneurship.

6. To expose students to work related problems and issues and in a wayto develop their thinking capabilities in decision-making.

7. To enable students to apply the theories and concepts to realworkplace situation.

2.2 Internship Placement

• There are two ways to look for internship placement:a) Self placement (Job street, newspaper, magazine, Google, social media) b) Industrial Training Coordinator

• FBA highly encourage the students to learn to look for job placementthemselves.

• Send email / give a call to the potential employer.Indicate clearly your industrial training period (start date & end date) to yourcompany when you apply for the placement. Attach your cover letter andresume.

• Some companies may require you to prove that you are a UNISEL student beforeinterview or after interview. Kindly request “Industrial Training Official Letter”from FBA. FBA will takes 3 working days to prepare this letter. Submit or showthis letter to the companies who request it.

a) Each student is entitled to applyONE official letter, and photocopiedto use for various organization.

b) Steps to apply the official letter:

• Visithttp://fba.unisel.edu.my/internship/

• Click Industrial Training OfficialLetter and fill up all particularsstated in the form

• Collect your letter at FBA Adminoffice

c) FBA will take 3 working days toprocess. Once ready, submit/showthis letter to the respectedcompanies.

• Attend Interview (If needed):a) Be professional during the interview.b) Please accept the offer that you have promised to the company. DON'T

promise one company and go to another company. This is a seriousethical issue.

c) Advisable to accept the first job offer. If you have more than oneinternship offer at the same time, please accept one and inform othercompanies politely about your decline.

• During interview/discussion, students are encourage to ask the followingquestions:a) Allowanceb) Working hoursc) Scope / task / responsibilitiesd) Overtime / other works

• Students are highly encourage to check the distance from your place of stay.If possible, go and visit the company.

• This is your personal deal. Once you accepted the offer from thecompany, you are not allowed to change to another company.

PART C: Confirmation of Placement

3.1 Acceptance of the Company Offer

• Please read the offer letter carefully. If there is any dispute with thecompany, the offer letter will be treated as a "legal evidence".

• Upon your acceptance of the company offer, you are required to:a) provide offer letter / reply letter from company (photocopied, you keep

the original)b) get Log Book from FBA Admin Office, fill in Student Pledge (Section F,

page 70 in the Log Book)c) print examination results for every semester, endorsed by Coordinator

Program (for BOA students only)d) Submit the completed Student Pledge to Industrial Training Coordinator

for verification• Failure to submit the completed Student Pledge will result in disapproval of

your placement.• Upon submission of Student Pledge, you are not allowed to change

company.
