Actually, it was never meant for only one day. It has long been said that each Sunday should be understood as a lile Easter. But I am talking deeper than that. Resurrecon is meant to be experienced each and every day. During his earthly ministry, we saw Jesus bring resurrecon and hope to the lost. We perceive it as Jesus speaks to the woman at the well, seeing her for who she truly was, and offering her Living Water. We recognize it in Zacchaeus when Jesus is the only one who sees him in the tree, and treats him as a beloved child of God. We must be like Jesus and offer hope to a hopeless world, looking for those who need the resurrecon of Jesus in their lives. Love ALL the People! I know by now, most of you have heard that we have signed an agreement to sell the west poron of the church property to Crossings Community Church. It was announced to both FCC and Crossings on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. Our congregaon voted unanimously to approve moving forward with the sale. As I presented this to the congregaon, I put it in the context of resurrecon. This will allow the buildings to be resurrected for the use in which they were intended as a church. It will also allow FCC OKC to receive resurrecon as we move forward with the call that God has on us. First Chrisan Church of Oklahoma City is not dead, but is very much alive as we serve our community and help others see the resurrecon in their lives. CHRIST IS RISEN! CHRIST IS RISEN INDEED! Malget’s Musings: The Mission of Resurrection! Resurrection isn’t just for Easter anymore! Actually, it was never meant for only one day. It has long been said that each Sunday should be understood as a “little Easter.” But I am talking deeper than that. Resurrection is meant to be experienced each and every day. During his earthly ministry, we saw Jesus bring resurrection and hope to the lost. We perceive it as Jesus speaks to the woman at the well, seeing her for who she truly was, and offering her “Living Water.” We recognize it in Zacchaeus when Jesus is the only one who sees him in the tree, and treats him as a beloved child of God. We must be like Jesus and offer hope to a hopeless world, looking for those who need the resurrection of Jesus in their lives. Love ALL the People!

I know by now, most of you have heard that we have signed an agreement to sell the west portion of the church property to Crossings Community Church. It was announced to both FCC and Crossings on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. Our congregation voted unanimously to approve moving forward with the sale. As I presented this to the congregation, I put it in the context of resurrection. “This will allow the buildings to be resurrected for the use in which they were intended as a church. It will also allow FCC OKC to receive resurrection as we move forward with the call that God has on us.” First Christian Church of Oklahoma City is not dead, but is very much alive as we serve our community and help others see the resurrection in their lives.

The Welcoming Table is a Wednesday evening fellowship which includes an amazing meal for a

suggested donation of $5, but no one will go hungry if you cannot contribute.

Following dinner, we have a chance to talk about how our faith impacts our lives in a

time of informal discussion, but there is no pressure to stay and chat. Each and every person who walks through our doors is welcome

We know you have heard it before, but we are endeavoring to make this a reality here in Oklahoma City. Whether or not you have been a believer your entire life, or you don’t know what you believe, or even if you believe, you are welcome here. Whether you are young, old, conservative, liberal, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, gay, straight, or questioning, it doesn’t matter because you are a beloved child of God!

First Christian Church of Oklahoma City is a place of unconditional love, a place to come and ask the hard questions of faith in a judgment free zone. There is a seat at the Welcoming Table just for you.

We believe that ALL means ALL! ~ And ALL includes YOU!

Come enjoy the thrill of live theatre-in-the-round!

God Continues to Grow Chain Reaction Ministries! One of the joys of giving bicycles away is seeing the faces of the people as they pick out their very own bike. They express their feelings in a variety of ways. With some it’s tears. For some it’s disbelief that we would just give them a bicycle with no strings attached. With others it’s the joy of a new start in life. Lives are changed because of a bicycle. Check out the thank you notes on the bulletin board outside the library. They will inspire you!

On April 29th we gave away our 3,100th bicycle to Cody Schiffman. Cody was referred to us by the Veterans Administraton. Over the last 5 years, Chain Reaction has given well over 1,000 bikes to veterans.

May God continue to bless all those that have given and continue to donate bicycles to this ministry. We have an ever increasing need for adult bicycles as the demand from the homeless and working poor seems to be increasing. If you, or someone you know has any adult bikes that can be donated, please call the church office at 405-525-6551 or my cell phone at 405-479-3809.

Still Changing Lives One Bike at a Time!

Chain Reaction Ministries Chain Reaction Ministries serves God by serving the least and the last among God’s children. We repair and give away donated bicycles to those in need so they can have life-changing transportation. To that end, we have given away over 3,100 bikes.

Givelify is an online giving platform that allows First Christian Church to receive offerings electronically. It is so easy to use. You can download the “app” on an iPhone or Android device, and give from your phone. You may also go to www.fccokc.org and tap the GIVE button at the top of the website, or simply tap DONATE on our church’s Facebook page. This will allow those who do not carry check or cash, or those who have to miss worship on a Sunday to continue to give to the ministries of First Christian Church of Oklahoma City!

HOLY HUMOR SUNDAY ~ Sunday, May 5th

Should we be laughing in church? Many churches are resurrecting an old Easter custom begun by the Greeks in the early centuries of Christianity—the ongoing celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection on the Sunday after Easter through laughter. On HOLY HUMOR SUNDAY, we will take a moment to realize that the words of the old religious instruction are true: “What is the chief end of human beings? Our chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy God forever.” When our worship is filled with playful laughter out of our delight in what God has done, we discover that we not only delight in God, but God also delights in us!

Our world is running around in hysterics, and now is not the time for us to take ourselves too seriously. We listen for the risen Lord who breaks into our fearful, stale rooms and breathes new life. The disciples were hopeless, locked away in fear. No joy. No hope.

No laughter. It was all a mess—and it is still a mess today. But then Jesus shows up. And when he does, he stands before us, like he stood before the disciples, and says, “Peace be with you!” Jesus breaks in and breathes new life into our world. He breathes the Spirit of joy into our lives—and sends us. He commissions us to BE the church, to carry the joy of Easter into a broken world. Christ fills us with the Spirit and tells us we have work to do. It’s pretty funny if you think about it.
