For most, summer means a calendar that’s freed up to have fun! We give thanks and praise for a summer filled with kids activities, family time, vacations, celebrations and treasured conversations with family and friends. I pray the summer of 2019 has been good to you. As we take in these moments of summer, we also know autumn will be upon us. While I enjoy the summertime, autumn is my favorite season. There is nothing like apple crisp in the oven, a pumpkin scented candle on the stove, the return of sweaters, crisp nights, falling leaves, and, of course, football. Go Big Red! Autumn also brings a return to regular ministry at First St. Paul’s. Though our summer was full — VBS, an adult study led by Ann Auten, two mission trips for our youth, a series on the Prodigal and a sabbatical for Pastor Joel — this fall promises to be a time of excitement and opportunities for all ages to grow in faith! In this newsletter, you will find information on the many ministry opportunities coming up. We are excited to host the Ice Cream Social and Car and Motorcycle show in August. Invite your friends and family to join us for a great night of community and fellowship. On September 4, Wednesday night “Ichthus” will resume with a ministry kick-off and cel- ebration! Join us for dinner at 5:30 p.m., then stay to sign up for kids events, youth events and studies. At 7:00, we’ll gather for worship and communion. Save the date now for Trunk or Treat (October 30) and the Rally Dinner (November 13). Young or old, single or a family of 10, you don’t want to miss the great opportunities to get connected this fall. Of course, we hope you’ll join us for worship Saturday (6:00 p.m.), Sunday (8:25 a.m. and 10:35 a.m.) or via Facebook, the radio or online at firststpauls.org. Paul writes: “I pray that out of God’s glorious riches, he may strengthen you with the power through his Spirit...so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted in love, may have power, with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:14 — 19, NIV) That is our prayer for you this day and always, that through the ministries offered here at First St. Paul’s, you would be rooted and established in faith. First Connections

Dear Friends and Co-Laborers with Christ,

It is the time of year when the corn is high, the days are hot, and for those of us with children or grandchildren in our care, the chorus of “I’m bored” is wearing on us. For most, summer means a calendar that’s freed up to have fun! We give thanks and praise for a summer filled with kids activities, family time, vacations, celebrations and treasured conversations with family and friends. I pray the summer of 2019 has been good to you.

As we take in these moments of summer, we also know autumn will be upon us. While I enjoy the summertime, autumn is my favorite season. Registration Time

God Made Me Preschool has opening in all classes for the Fall Session 2019. Classes will begin the Tuesday after Labor Day.

Allen’s & Russ’s Receipts

God Made Me Preschool will again be collecting Allen’s & Russ’s receipts as well as Best Choice UPC’s. Receipts must be dated September 1, 2019 through February 29, 2020. Please bring them to the Church Office or place them in the box provided in the F.G.A.

It’s 3rd Grade Bible Time!

We invite all 3rd graders and their parents to join us for a new twist on Bible class!

Start with a meal in the Celebration Center, then meet for the Bible Project. Wednesdays, September 11, 18, 25 from 6:15 — 7:45 p.m. in the Genesis Room (Lower Level, Education Wing). Bibles

will be presented September 28 - 29 at the service of your choice. Contact Chad

GriefShare will offer a 13 week series beginning Thursday, August 15 at the Youth & Family Ministry Center. Each evening begins at 7:00 p.m., includes a 30 to 40 minute video, followed by discussion, and ends before 9 p.m. GriefShare is for those who are grieving the death of a loved one--child, parent, spouse, sibling or friend. There is no cost to attend or for the booklet. Sponsors are First St. Paul's and Butler Volland Funeral Home. More information can be found at www.griefshare.org.

"Loss of a Spouse" is new from GriefShare. It features a video followed with discussion. It is specifically for those whose spouses have died, but those attending may want to bring a friend or family member along for support. Two date options are scheduled--Wednesday, July 31 at Good Samaritan Village Community Center (Card Room) from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. AND Thursday, August 1 at Youth & Family Ministry Center from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There is no cost. Please call the Church Office (402-463-1329) if you plan to attend, or register on-line at www.griefshare.org.

First St. Paul’s members are encouraged to join us in supporting the Chris Walston Scholarship Fun Run.

This 1 mile walk/5k run will be Saturday, September 21 at Camp Augustine. Registrations due

September 14. Join us in remembering our friend Chris and supporting the Walston family by
