VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL ……………… 8:45 AM - 12:15 PM ………………… JULY 15-19, 2013
Vacation Bible School is a huge, church wide, week long, annual marquee event that continues to grow in importance and in participation here at First Baptist. This past summer, more than 6000 hours of adult ministry were poured into our Vacation Bible School by around 200 adult and youth members. About three years ago, Brother Jeff suggested we try a youth Vacation Bible School and it took off like a rocket. Who knew?
This past summer we had a total Vacation Bible School enrollment of 803, thanks to an increasingly strong response to Youth Vacation Bible School. The impact of Vacation Bible School is impossible to estimate. We know that there are whole families represented by each child and youth. We know that 41 kids prayed to receive Christ during our 2012 Vacation Bible School and that we baptized 15 on Vacation Bible School Family Night. We know the Gospel message was delivered over and over again and that young Christ followers learned more of God’s Word and how it applies to their lives. Vacation Bible School takes our whole church, every willing and available person doing their part, so I am asking you now to go ahead and set aside our Vacation Bible School dates on your calendar and plan to be a part of what God is doing in VBS!
THE SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION … JUNE 10-12, 2013 … GEORGE R. BROWN CENTER
About every 20 years or so, we Southern Baptists hold our annual convention in Houston. This is our year. If you would like to go and represent our church, contact our church office by June 5 th and we'll have you approved by our church as a “messenger”. That way you can vote on stuff! It is sort of inspirational when you realize that you, as a Southern Baptist, are part of the largest protestant denomination in North America (the world?). Here is what you need to know about being a Southern Baptist:
Every Southern Baptist Church is fully autonomous and independent. Everything we participate in as a Southern Baptist church we do so voluntarily. Every decision and direction we take as a local church is without any pressure or compulsion from outside our church. Southern Baptists form an inverted pyramid with the local church at the top.
We co-operate together to do a number of things, but mainly to do global and North American missions, and to provide the highest quality ministerial education for our God-called church staff members and other believers who desire an excellent education in a Christian environment.
We give what we consider our church's tithe to the Southern Baptist Cooperative Missions Program to fund these works we do together. That is the first 10% of our regular offerings.
We are people of the Book! In the “Baptist Faith and Message”, first published in 1925, then revised in 1963, and then revised again in 2000, we find in all three editions this exact wording: “It (the Bible) has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.” We do our best to preach and teach the Book, live by the Book, and share the gospel message, right out of the Book with everyone we can get to.
We teach this Book in Sunday School, so find a class and learn and grow.

Letters and Cards
Dear Church Family,Your kindness will always be remembered and appreciated. Thank you for all the prayers, food, flowers and support you gave to Henry during his illness and home-going. He loved each of you and considered it a blessing to be part of such a wonderful church.
FBC Church Family,
Thank y'all so much for the peace lily plant. Even more, we appreciate the support of the whole church during this time – from the food to the use of facilities for the service and meal, to the availability of people in the church to help watch kids and babies in the family and use the Mother's Day Out program. Y'all have been so generous with time and resources. Thanks! We find great comfort in knowing you care.
