January 2016

Friends, Facing a new year can bring up a variety of feelings. Some may feel a sense of excitement in looking forward to the coming year. Others may feel like life is spinning out of control, wondering where the year went. Some may feel lost without a clear purpose in life — something to be or do that makes sense of everything. Regardless of how you feel about the New Year, you can be assured that God has a plan for you in it.

In this coming year, ask God to show you His plan for your life and seek the Holy Spirit's help to overcome those challenges you may encounter as you follow God's will. And as you wait for God’s plan to unfold fully, continue to be faithful in the smaller tasks He has already called you to do.

Yours in Christ, Pastor Jim

Our Mission with Crossroads Christian School The school year 2015-2016 is half over and Crossroads Christian School (CCS) has really been a blessing to the students, teachers and our church! The teachers speak of how close the students feel God’s presence in their school work and life. Our own student church members attending CCS have taken pride in not only that this is their school, but their church. What a great relationship to know that God is in their lives and not just in a church building. Some of the activities held this year were a Thanksgiving Program that was attended by so many parents and family members that there was standing room only. Of course, Chapel time on Mondays and Thursdays are a big hit! They use their own bibles or our pew bibles to look up scriptures and read the words of our Lord. FELC’s “Get Fit with God” exercise class is joined by Kindergarteners who are learning not only to exercise, but the “cool down time” is with music and sign language. Yes, sign language. The exercise time ends in prayer with hands held together coming to the middle of a circle and on the count of three raise their hands and shout “Praise God!” You should just see their faces with ecstatic joy for the Lord!

Every part of the curriculum involves our Creator, His role in their lives and theirs to Him. Enrollment at present is 141 and kinder, first and sec-ond grades are full. The halls of the Educational Building are again resounding with the voices of God’s children. We are so THANKFUL for the leadership of the co-directors, Shannon Mitchamore and Jennifer Garnett. If and when you see these two ladies, say “hello” and “”thank you!.” To God be the Glory!!!

Please remember our nursing home and assisted living residents in your prayers. They love and appreciate your visits! Victoria Residence and Rehabilitation Center Herb Hanselman, Amarylis Tschirhart. Twin Pines Delores Baker, Angel Lee Karnei, Fay Wright, Vir-ginia Swanson Marjorie Johnston, Carrie Parsons. Retama South Terry Jackson, Leo Westerman. The Courtyards Eunice Lorfing, Mildred Metting. La Villa Irene Nelson, Verna Salm. Sodalis Vernon Waida, Victor Swanson.
