During Reading Workshop the class reviewed Good Reading Habits. They were reminded that reading partners have good habits for the beginning, the middle, and the end of books too. Each child practiced introducing a book to their reading partner by giving a book introduction before the partners read a book.

In Writing Workshop the children learned that writers go from being the writer to being the reader. When writers reread their own books, they read just as if they were reading a published book. Sometimes the writer hears a mess-up and fixes that part.

InsocialstudieswelearnedaboutChristopherColumbus.Weredabook,watchedaBrainpopJr.anddidaproject.

Duringsciencethechildrencon,nuedlearningaboutthethreestatesofmaDer.Theydidaninves,ga,onontheproper,esofliquidswheretheyobserveddifferentliquidstoseeiftheyweretransparent,hadcolor,wereviscous,weretranslucent,werefoamyorbubbly.Ourschoolcounselor,Dr.CLaudiaTrinklein-EngmanvisitedourclassforourfirstsessionwithKimochis.ShebroughttheKimochiDollBugandthebookBugMakesaSplashtoteachthechildrenthatsome,mesitcanbeachallengetotrysomethingnew.Theclasslearnedthatyouhavetobebravetotrysomethingnewandwhenyoudo,youfeelreallyproud.Thechildrenshareda,methattheywerescaredtotrysomethingnewbutwerebravetotryitandthenhowproudtheywerefortrying.ClaudiawasbacktodaywithanotherKimochi.

Monday,October30istheHalloweenParade.ThechildrenmaybringtheircostumestoschoolwiththemonMonday.Theywillbechangingintotheircostumesat1:20PM.Iwouldlikeasmanyparentsaspossibletojoinusat1:20PMtohelpthechildrengetintotheircostumes.Iwouldliketotakepicturesbeforetheparadeat1:30PM.Everyonewillbehavingpopcornandjuiceaftertheparade.Ifyoucanbringpopcornorjuiceforourtreataftertheparadepleaseletmeknow.Pleaserememberthatnoweaponsareallowed.
