First MRJ’s Fuselage Joined With Wings

TRANSCRIPT

First MRJs fuselage joined with wingsFirst photos emerged from MRJ wing to fuselage joint Couple of observations. First, both wing and fuse are fully painted in top coat external paint. This is unusual. No masking? How to they manage possible scratches induced during final assembly? Not sure. This may indicate that the paint shop for the fully sized airplane is not ready at the assembly facility. Also wings are getting installed to the fuselage with winglets fully fitted to the wing, which introduced the risk of winglets being damaged during wing manipulation. On the static test aircraft what can be observed is that the winglet is removed as it is not required for static test which is reasonable. But what is peculiar is the winglet joint to the wing which is oblique rather than being straight.Static test aircraft is rolled on the dummy landing gears which is common. There are two small spars hanging out at the joint which can also be seen at the small winglet joint section seen at the table underneath the wing here:http://www.aviationwire.jp/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/130907_0195_mrj-640.jpg ).Continuing on the winglet there is a very strong and heavy structure at the leading edge which looks like end of the first winglet spar which is joining with the wingbox leading edge closing rib. Why so strong and heavy?
