~Gathering the Family of God~ Choral Introit Call to Worship One: Good Morning! Let’s wake up our voices as we begin this time of worship together. Friends, do not be afraid: Jesus is risen! All: He is risen indeed. Hallelujah! One: This is the good news by which we are saved. All: On the third day Jesus rose from the dead! One: The crucified one has risen. All: Let us sing together with joy! Christ is risen indeed! *Gathering Hymn For A Thousand Tongues # 610 V. 1-3 &5 V.1. O for a thousand tongues to sing my dear Redeemer’s praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of God’s grace! V.2. The name of Jesus charms our fears, and bids our sorrows cease, sings music in the sinner’s ears, brings life, and health, and peace. V.3. Christ speaks, and listening to his voice new life the dead receive; the mournful waken to rejoice; the poor in heart believe. V.5. To God all glory, praise, and love be now and ever given by saints below and saints above, the church in earth and heaven. *Call to Reconciliation One: Christ himself bore our sins in his body on the cross so that, free from sin, we might live in the light of honesty, forgiveness, and peace. Trusting in so great a salvation, let us lay our burdens down together. All: Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, whose face is hidden from us by our sins, and whose mercy we forget in the blindness of our hearts: cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires, that with reverent and humble hearts we may draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son,

~Hearing God’s Word~ Prayer for Understanding God’s Word One: This morning we will begin our scripture reading with a beautiful psalm of praise to God our refuge. Then, we will read from 1 Peter, a letter sent to encourage a church facing injustice. We will be continuing through 1 Peter for the next few weeks. Finally, our Gospel passage continues the story of Christ’s resurrection where we left off last week. Please pray with me. Guiding God, send your Holy Spirit upon the reading of your Word that it may serve to show us the path of life. May it lead us into your presence where there is fullness of joy. Amen

Gospel Lesson John 20:19-31 One: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God. Message Behind Locked Doors Pastor Ashley Reflection Song What a Friend We Have in Jesus # 465 V.1. What a friend we have in Jesus, all or sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit; O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer! V.2. Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer! Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer. V.3. Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge; take it to the Lord in prayer! Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer! In his ams he’ll take and shield thee; thou wilt find a solace there. Invitation to Become a Joyful Giver Sharing Our Joys and Concerns Rev. Ashley M Love One: God of grace, All: Hear our prayer.
